The second book in the Night Rebel<\/i> series is a fun, action-packed and romantic paranormal adventure tale, with more Ian!<\/p>\n

This book picks up just after the ending of Shades of Wicked<\/a>. Ian and Veritas have been separated, with Ian having been stripped of most of his memories, and Veritas tasked with locating the souls that were freed in order to save him.<\/p>\n

Veritas is grieving the loss of the vampire she loves, but she knows it\u2019s for the best as she begins her mission, putting her career and her life on the line in the process. But, unbeknownst to Veritas, Ian hasn\u2019t forgotten her, and though he may not have the details, he knows she is somebody important to him and he has every intention of getting her back\u2026 no matter what it takes.<\/p>\n

Thankfully the big reunion doesn\u2019t take too long to come about, and it\u2019s funny, flirty and full of chemistry. The \u2018amnesia\u2019 storyline also doesn\u2019t take too long to overcome which I was very relieved about and then we\u2019re back on the road with this loved-up, sexed-up couple as they continue their hunt for the evil Dagon, in their own style.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe you don\u2019t realize it,\u201d I said between clenched teeth. \u201cBut I\u2019m having a problem at the moment.\u201d<\/em>
\n\u201cDoes that problem have eyes that shoot silver beams while darkness billows behind her like a cape?\u201d He grinned. \u201cMade me rock hard seeing it.\u201d<\/em>
\nHe was aroused by my supernaturally sociopathic other half?<\/em>
\n\u201cFuck. You,\u201d I bit out.<\/em>
\nHe nodded. \u201cSolid plan.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s a full-on ride, with lots of action and excitement and very little down time. We are introduced to new characters \u2013 Ashael is great \u2013 and see much-loved series favourites, which is a real treat. Ian continues to be awesome, but I felt like he is sidelined a bit in this one by Veritas, who takes the lead as a woman\/vampire\/other wrestling with the darker side of herself. It\u2019s a lot of fun and I so many parts made me laugh out loud. It didn\u2019t quite have the same excitement as the first book though, and felt a bit too much at times. It\u2019s all very fast paced with barely a chance to take a breath, but Frost still manages to bring the romance, which I really liked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you\u2019re Veritas the Law Guardian, Ariel the vampire-witch, or Death\u2019s scary demigod daughter. Doesn\u2019t matter. In all your forms, in every manifestation of yourself, I love you.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A new plotline introduced in the final few pages which throws a twist in the story and provides a cliffhanger which leads into the next book. It comes out of nowhere and honestly it felt a little forced, just for the sake of another book. It\u2019s also reminiscent of a storyline that\u2019s already played out in the Night Huntress<\/i> books. But whatever, I\u2019ll still be reading the next book when it comes out, because it\u2019s Ian!<\/p>\n

A wildly fun ride. 3.5 stars.<\/p>\n
