Add to Goodreads<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3 stars<\/b><\/p>\n This is a cute, quick, second-chance\/enemies-to-lovers story with a royal twist.<\/p>\n I picked this book up not realising that it is part of a series (from what I can gather a series of standalones about the royals of the fictional Vespa Isles) \u2013 but there\u2019s not much crossover apart from mentioning other characters who don\u2019t actually appear in the book, so it\u2019s safe to read it as a standalone.<\/p>\n Three years ago, Lia and Prince Julius fell in love on The Bachelor<\/i>. But it ended in heartbreak when it was revealed that Lia was a journalist who was there to get a story on one of the world\u2019s most eligible royals. Of course, her \u2018story\u2019 only lasted as long as it took her to get a close up look of the handsome prince, and she threw the plan out the window and truly fell for him. But the damage was done and Julius, heartbroken by Lia\u2019s betrayal, turned her away and never looked back.<\/p>\n Now, Ophelia finds herself caught up with the royal family once again when her new boss tasks her with writing an expos\u00e9 on the still-sexy prince. And it just so happens that Julius needs to distract that same boss away from his secret business dealings, so what better way to do that than a fake relationship!<\/p>\n His eyes never leave mine, and I can only stare up at him, panting, wanting, and oh, so vulnerable. \u201cAre you sure about this? It won\u2019t be real. You know that. I can\u2019t forgive you.\u201d It’s a great set-up, especially because Julius is still so incredibly angry, so there\u2019s this intense chemistry with him full of rage, yet both of them want each other so badly and can barely keep their hands off each other, and the emotion and passion between them burns strongly. Hate sexy is always so steamy!<\/p>\n \u201cOh, God,\u201d I cry out \u2026 \u201cThis is like a dream.\u201d But underneath all of that mad lust, you can tell that there is still love between them. They just have all of this hurt, betrayal and guilt that they need to work through.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the record, I didn\u2019t run away from love where you were concerned \u2013 you\u2019re the one who gave me no other choice but to turn my back on it.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s an emotional journey for both of them as they figure it all out, and we get glimpses of their past together to help us understand all that they are feeling.<\/p>\n This beautiful, damaged man is beside me, and I\u2019ll never get him back. He\u2019s my own personal hell, and I\u2019ll burn in it just to keep him near, even if only for a little while. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Along the way they get some assistance from Julius\u2019 fabulous match-making Grandmother, the Queen, and it\u2019s just a matter of time watching these two battle it out to see how they will overcome their past and find the happy ending that they both want so badly.<\/p>\n I enjoyed this book.
