This is a really sweet read. A second-chance-romance with a mafia twist, it\u2019s a beautifully romantic story with a bit of suspense, and I really liked it.<\/p>\n

A part of the With Me in Seattle<\/i> series, this is the story of Archer Montgomery (one of the cousins of the original group of characters and brother to Anastasia from the last book in the series, Dream With Me<\/a>). As this is the 14th book in the series, there is some character crossover, but you can easily read this one (or any of these books) as a standalone.<\/p>\n

Archer and Elena fell in love as teenagers. They married in secret, but were torn apart when her father found out. A powerful mob boss, he had his own plans for Elena and he tortured her and threatened Archer\u2019s life unless she broke it off. Desperate to save the life of the man she loves, Elena did just that, and then went on the run to hide from him and his domination over her life. For 12 years she has lived in secret, moving around when necessary, and living the quiet life she always dreamed of, but she has done it without love, never moving on from Archer. And then, one day out of the blue, he finds her.<\/p>\n

Archer was left broken-hearted when Elena broke it off, and he has spent their years apart searching for her. Now he\u2019s found her, and he\u2019s determined not to let her go again.<\/p>\n

What I love most about the books in this series, is that the love stories are so functional! The characters talk to each other, they don\u2019t hide how they\u2019re feeling, they lay it all out there and deal with things head on, and it\u2019s so refreshing to read! So when Archer and Elena are reunited and don\u2019t hold anything back, I was so excited! Of course, they have things they need to talk about, and Elena is still worried about Archer\u2019s safety, but they still love each other fiercely, and their reconnection is emotional, sexy and really freaking swoony.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like I\u2019ve loved you my whole life.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But even though Elena\u2019s father is dead, she\u2019s still considered a mafia princess, and the mafia never forgets. This brings a suspenseful element to the story, and sets up a series of spin-off books for Elena\u2019s cousins, all working for the family. I\u2019m not a reader of mafia books, and I\u2019ve gotta say, I found it somewhat disturbing. It works for Archer and Elena\u2019s story, but on the whole, I\u2019m not a fan of mafia storylines, so I didn\u2019t love this aspect the book \u2013 totally a personal opinion. Proby wrote it well.<\/p>\n

This is a quick read, but I was easily swept up in the romance, and I really enjoyed Archer and Elena\u2019s story. Gorgeously romantic, sweet and sexy with some fun moments, it was everything that I expect from this much-loved series.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always hated this room. My father\u2019s office is grand, full of honey oak bookcases, a massive chandelier, and a desk in the center of the space that\u2019s bigger than the bed I\u00a0sleep on. Floor-to-ceiling windows are at his back and look out over the estate that he\u00a0insisted on but, in large part, ignores.<\/p>\n

Whenever I\u2019m due for a massive lecture, this is where he drags me.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay I please speak with you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is it?\u201d He doesn\u2019t look up from his computer, which doesn\u2019t surprise me.<\/p>\n

Paying attention to his daughter has never been a priority for this man.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll just share my news and go straight to my room, pack my things, and be out of here\u00a0for good.<\/p>\n

I can almost smell the freedom. I can\u2019t wait to move in with my husband. My husband.<\/p>\n

That word makes me want to spin in circles of excitement. Archer and I will make a home and have babies. His family is wonderful, and there will be so much love in our household. \u201cMontgomery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t.\u201d His voice isn\u2019t loud, but it\u2019s firm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatkins.\u201d<\/p>\n

He turns and stares at me impassively. \u201cThat\u2019s right. And that last name, along with the Martinellis\u2019, holds more weight than you can ever fully understand. It means that, as my daughter, you don\u2019t have the freedom to marry whomever you choose, whenever you\u00a0decide to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an adult.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re my daughter!\u201d I blink at the spurt of anger. He\u2019s not impassive now. His eyes\u00a0shoot daggers at me, and sweat breaks out across my skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cDad, I love him.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shakes his head and waves off my comment as if it\u2019s an annoying fly buzzing around\u00a0his head.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have it annulled immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

He lifts an eyebrow. I\u2019ve never told my father no. I don\u2019t think anyone in his life ever\u00a0has. No one would dare. \u201cExcuse me?\u201d<\/p>\n

I lift my chin again. \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

He stalks around his desk and grips my arm just above my elbow, almost painfully, and\u00a0drags me through the house, up the stairs, and into my bedroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re putting me in time out?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI should have done this a long time ago. You\u2019re too spoiled. Too indulged. You think\u00a0you can defy me, go against what\u2019s best for the family like this?\u201d<\/p>\n

We keep moving quickly through the room to my closet, where he pulls a sash off my robe, yanks my arms above my head, and ties me to the light fixture in the middle of the\u00a0room.<\/p>\n

He steps back, barely breathing hard.<\/p>\n
