The second book in The Harbinger<\/i> series, and we\u2019re back with Trinity and Zayne, now bonded as Trueborn and Warden Protector and working together to hunt for the mysterious Harbinger.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s not a lot I can say about the story without spoiling anything, and just let me confirm that this is NOT a standalone, and you need to have read Storm & Fury<\/a>, and preferably the original series in this world, The Dark Elements<\/a>, before diving into this one<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bit of a slower pace this time around, as the world is already well established, and we concentrate more on the relationship between Trinity and Zayne as they explore their brand new dynamic.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never cease to amaze me, Trinity. I don\u2019t think there\u2019ll ever be a time that you do. So, yes, I\u2019m in awe of you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nFrom the very beginning I have loved the connection between Trinity and Zayne, and now they have the added edge of their true bond, which enhances everything that was between them in the first book, but which also creates a delicious sense of the forbidden as their attraction is now totally off-limits. So we get this angsty, dramatic situation where they are both trying to do the right thing, creating both sexual tension and real tension as they fight hard against their feelings, and each other. It\u2019s both exciting and frustrating as they share intense moments all while keeping quiet about the tumultuous emotion between them, creating multiple opportunities for miscommunication. But it\u2019s an emotional journey, and watching them deal with it and work through it is an entertaining ride, and it makes those romantic moments all the more incredible when they happen.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t share with you what we just shared believing nothing could come from it.\u201d His eyes searched mine. \u201cI knew there was a risk for us\u2014and there <\/i>is an us. I also know that you\u2019re worth the risk. That <\/i>we\u2019re worth the risk.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou gave me stars, and that means this is\u2026this is <\/i>more.\u201d
\nHis thumb swept over my cheek. \u201cI don\u2019t know what <\/i>more means to you, but it means that I love you, Trinity Lynn. That I\u2019m in love with you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Deserving of both a squee! And a swoooooooooon!!!<\/div><\/div><\/i><\/p>\n

But in the midst of it all, the Harbinger is still killing, and seems to taunt them at every turn. The story progression here is slow for most of the book as Trinity and Zayne deal with their romantic drama, but things pick up towards the end of the book and there is some action and excitement, questions are answered, the plot thickens and there are some pretty big twists which are going to change everything going forward. The ending is not exactly a cliffhanger, but it\u2019s a nasty note to leave off on, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book to see how it\u2019s all going to unfold from here.<\/p>\n

Characters from previous books appear, and Roth, Layla and Cayman are all a part of the action, and I loved the scenes that involve them! The Dark Elements<\/i> series is a fave of mine, so of course any opportunity to see those characters again is always a treat. I\u2019ll say again, that it will be really helpful to make sure you\u2019ve read that series before this one because there are a lot of tie-ins that may otherwise be a bit confusing.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed this book. While not as fast-paced as its predecessor, it has a lot of heart and sets up the trilogy for a big finish!<\/p>\n

Rage and ruin had not corrupted me. They <\/i>powered me.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
