\u201cThank you,\u201d she breathes the moment we\u2019re alone.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo problem. Mind if I make myself comfortable?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, yeah. I mean, no. I don\u2019t mind. Sit if you want. Or\u2014wow, okay, you\u2019re lying down.\u201d<\/p>\n

I grin at her visible nervousness. It\u2019s cute. While I stretch out my six-foot-two frame amid the stuffed animals and decorative pillows on the bed, she remains the startled rabbit plastered against the door and breathing heavily.<\/p>\n

\u201cGotta be honest,\u201d I tell her, entwining my hands behind my head, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen a girl so unhappy to be locked in a bedroom with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

This has the desired effect of loosening her shoulders and even eliciting a shy smile. \u201cI have no doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Conor, by the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

She rolls her eyes. \u201cYeah, I know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the eyeroll for?\u201d I ask, playing wounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, sorry, I didn\u2019t mean anything by it. Just, I know who you are. You\u2019re, like, campus famous.\u201d<\/p>\n

The more I watch her, hands braced at her sides against the door, one knee bent, dirty-blonde hair a little messy and draped over one shoulder, I can\u2019t help picturing myself holding her arms above her head while I explore her body with my mouth. She\u2019s got very kissable skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor Marsh,\u201d she blurts out, and I realize I don\u2019t know how long we were silent until then.<\/p>\n

I scoot to the far side of the bed and put a pillow beside me as a divider. \u201cCome on. If we\u2019re going to be in here awhile, let\u2019s at least make friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor laughs out a breath and with it she releases a bit more tension. She\u2019s got a nice smile. Bright, warm. It takes a bit more coaxing, however, to get her on the bed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t like a move,\u201d she tells me, lining up stuffed animal guards to patrol the pillow wall between us. \u201cI\u2019m not some sort of weirdo who tricks men into getting in bed with her and then mauls them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSure.\u201d I nod with mock seriousness. \u201cBut a little mauling would be okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
