A smart, witty, banter-and-chemistry-filled romance that is passionate, intense and beautifully functional.<\/p>\n This book follows on from The Magnolia Chronicles<\/a>. Ash is Magnolia\u2019s older brother, and though those characters appear this in this book, this one can easily be read as a standalone.<\/p>\n Ash Santillian is a grumpy, work-obsessed accountant on the way home from a business trip and is having the morning from hell. And then Zelda literally lands in his life, plopping down next to him on the plane, telling him off and talking him in to giving her a job. By the end of the flight, they have developed a firm connection, crazy sexual tension, and Ash promptly moves Zelda into his apartment. And she\u2019s about to turn his world upside down.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m going to assist the shit out of you,” I announced. “I hope you’re ready for the full force of me and my sanctimonious assisting.”<\/em> It\u2019s such a great set-up, so much fun, and the dialogue between Ash and Zelda is snappy as hell! I loved watching them bounce off each other, and seeing everything start to build between them.<\/p>\n He was salty as fuck and secretly adorable and he didn’t look at me like I was a shopping cart with a wonky wheel. He looked at me like I was magic. They easily and naturally fall into a relationship. It\u2019s smooth and effortless. They don\u2019t hold back or hide anything from each other, they just follow their feelings and go with it, and I freaking love that! And oh, holy hell it\u2019s hot! Ash has a definite dominant streak, and as assertive as Zelda is in life, she likes to let Ash take control in the bedroom, and it\u2019s really freaking steamy \u2013 but always an extension of their feelings for each other, so it\u2019s all incredibly emotional as well.<\/p>\n I wanted to take the energy crackling between us and make it explode, and I couldn’t say I cared if I burned in the process.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cQuiet now, love. Let me have you. Let me keep you.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Ash and Zelda both have personal issues. Nothing too substantial, but vulnerabilities, personality traits and bad experiences have left their mark and they have things they need to deal with and overcome, but they do it together, without any external drama, just working through it, and it was gorgeous watching them do that.<\/p>\n “I’m not overwhelming. You were overwhelmed. That’s about you, not me.” I did have an issue with this book, and that was the over-use of internal monologue rather than dialogue. The dialogue in the beginning is absolutely gold, and though it continues to be quick and smart, I wanted more of it, instead of pages and pages of thoughts, feelings and reactions. But I liked that we got to know these characters so well.<\/p>\n I still didn’t believe in signs, not the ones outside of mathematics, but I believed in Zelda. More than that, I believed in me <\/i>and Zelda. Us, together. Always.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n There\u2019s some great follow-on for Magnolia, and this book finishes off Ash and Zelda\u2019s story beautifully!
