A sweet, fun, sexy and heartfelt small-town romance, and though a standalone, it’s also a fantastic beginning to a new series that I can’t wait to dive into!

Boyd Mitchell is a workaholic who is flying from his home in Boston back to his home town of Cedar Point to spend the last two weeks of summer with his family – as is their tradition. Quiet and standoff-ish he is definitely not a people person, but that all changes when he is seated next to a beautiful, but chatty, woman on his flight.

Ruby Roberts has never flown before, and she’s nervous as all hell. But she’s taking a trip to meet the father who walked out on her and her mother when she was just a child. A quirky, spirited woman, she is known for her rambling, and from the moment she boards the plane, she strikes up a lively conversation with her seatmate.

Boyd and Ruby’s banter and flirting is fun and quick-witted, and over all too soon. So, they are both thrilled when they discover that they have ended up in the same small town for their trip. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to spend time together, they go all-in, and Ruby is quickly swept up into Boyd’s life and his lively family, every moment of it drawing them closer and closer together as they fall hard and fast.

It’s fun and exciting, and I was riding the wave of anticipation waiting for something to happen between these two. It’s easy and natural, with great chemistry and fantastic build-up, and it’s so, so beautiful. I love that they follow their hearts and just go with it.

Suddenly, I’m glad I’m not the type of girl who plays hard to get. It’s overrated.

This is such a functional romance. They have fun together, they talk, they are playful and flirty, there’s no game playing or stupid behaviour, there’s just attraction, openness and so many feels – and some seriously hot sexy time – and I freaking loved it!

Ruby lifts a hand and strokes it through my hair, the tenderness in her caress cracking something open inside of me.
“I couldn’t have dreamed you up,” she whispers, looking at me like I hung the fucking moon.

But, of course, it’s not all easy. Ruby has long-ingrained issues from her past that impact on their deepening relationship. It’s heartbreakingly frustrating, but I could see where she was coming from. Plus, it allows Boyd the chance to shine as the deeply-smitten man who will fight for the girl he loves.

“What you need is a man who loves you enough to never let you go, a man who will continue so show up, time after time, who will continue to fight for you, who will prove to you over and over again that love is absolutely worth the trouble.”

He’s so freaking perfect! Such a good guy, with a big heart, and I just loved him! Seeing him with his family and friends is gorgeous, and watching his patience, his care, and his understanding when it comes to Ruby just melted my heart. Plus he’s hot as all hell! He’s absolutely irresistible, and I just adored him.

Damn, do I love her, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life making sure she knows how I feel down in the deepest parts of her soul.

Boyd’s family are a fantastic bunch – they’re very close and have so much love for each other, but still bicker and banter as families do. He’s the eldest of five siblings, so there’s plenty of stories to come for the Mitchell family, and I cannot wait for more!

This is a really great read. It’s fun and sweet with so much passion and whole lot of heart, and I loved it!

4.5 stars.

An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the author in exchange for an
