Hate is a strong word.<\/p>\n

Depending on the company, loathe is a good substitute. Abhor might be a little fancy, but it gets the job done. But the word that really sums up how I feel about Liam Darcy is, without question, hate.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not as if he can dismiss me, since I work for his client, Wasted Words. Instead, he\u2019s forced to tolerate me, which seems the closest we\u2019ll ever be to friends. Fine by me.<\/p>\n

I can be civil and still hate Liam Darcy.<\/p>\n

But if there\u2019s more to him than his exterior shows, I won\u2019t be able to hate him at all.<\/p>\n

I might stumble over that line between love and hate and fall right into his arms.<\/p>\n

Pride and Papercuts<\/i> is a fantastic modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice<\/i>. It has all the banter, tension, passion, and growth that I want from an enemies-to-lovers romance, and I loved it!<\/p>\n

Laney Bennet is the in-house social marketer of Wasted Words, the bookstore\/bar where she and her brother, Jett, work. When the owners of the bar bring on a new firm responsible for opening more book bars like Wasted Words, Lacey must work with Liam Darcy on their new marketing strategy. Liam proves to be more difficult to work with than she could have imagined and they start off on the wrong foot, creating a delicious enemies-to-lovers set up.<\/p>\n

Laney is awesome. She has fire and drive and is great at what she does. She stands her ground and doesn\u2019t cower when faced with challenge. I loved her and her strength.<\/p>\n

Liam is the best kind of broody hero. He has been in control of his life since the passing of his parents and that includes taking care of his sister, Georgie. He helps run the family business and he doesn\u2019t like to lose control, especially when it comes to the people in his life. He doesn\u2019t trust easily but he\u2019s got a big heart for the ones he cares about even if he doesn\u2019t often show it to the world.<\/p>\n

Both Laney and Liam are smart and after the same thing when it comes to Wasted Words; however, it doesn\u2019t mean they get along at all. Liam doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s up against when it comes to Laney. He doesn\u2019t want to feel the connection that\u2019s there and it makes him crazy that she has gotten under his skin. I loved seeing him rattled.<\/p>\n

She drove me to madness, and I gladly returned the favor, but I couldn\u2019t help but wonder if that wasn\u2019t a symptom of something deeper, something bigger than what it appeared. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The banter is fantastic and I love that they both can give as good as they get. Laney doesn\u2019t let Liam get her down and he drives her to prove her worth. I love that she is different from what he expected. They get in each other\u2019s heads and I loved every moment they are together.<\/p>\n

Inexplicably, she roused something in me, like a beast asleep for a thousand years, shaking off the dust of time. She saw me, and though she didn\u2019t like what she\u2019d found, she challenged me to answer. To rise to the occasion and meet her as an equal. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Where Laney is bubbly and friendly, Liam is the complete opposite but when we get to know him, we see a side to him he keeps hidden. I felt his emotions when we got more of the past and why he is the overbearing big brother. I understood it because I could feel his love for his sister.<\/p>\n

There are little moments where the walls built up by Liam start to come down and we see how good he and Laney could be if they just took a chance. But for every step they grow closer, they take two steps back, and it cranks up the sexual tension, especially because any relationship between them is forbidden. The slow burn is so good and I felt the tension build. I couldn\u2019t wait for them to just go for it once they recognized what their feelings meant.<\/p>\n

When it comes to the unexpected rightness of you, I don\u2019t want to wait…I want <\/i>you, and I want you forever. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love the secondary characters and am so glad we get so much of Jett, Georgie, and their sweet love story. And the rest of the Bennet<\/i><\/a> family is there, too. I love that they are able to have fun together while still being there for each other when they need them the most.<\/p>\n
