Dancing around your terrible hotel room to \u201cCome and Get Your Love\u201d like Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy\u2014naked? Yeah. Me too.<\/span><\/p>\n And yet, here we are.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This isn\u2019t even the most unprofessional thing that\u2019s happened between us in the past couple of weeks.<\/p>\n The first was when I agreed to let her have Christmas Day off, but only if she goes with me to three family gatherings as my fake girlfriend. And she hasn\u2019t even found out the real reason I need her by my side this holiday season.<\/p>\n I need to pull it together before I do the dumbest, most unprofessional thing of all\u2014fall head over heels in love with the only assistant who\u2019s lasted more than a month at the job and claims to hate me and my moods more than she hates eggnog.<\/p>\n And I’ve seen how much she hates eggnog.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 5 stars!<\/b><\/p>\n Oh, I love this book! A funny, sexy, fake romance, enemies-to-lovers romance that had me completely hooked from start to finish. With epic chemistry and banter, and a love story that had me laughing and swooning, I adored every moment of this one!<\/p>\n Declan Cannavale is a corporate lawyer, Maddie Cooper is his executive assistant. He\u2019s cocky, arrogant, a workaholic and a nightmare to work for, but she keeps him in his place with her feisty, no-nonsense, take-no-crap attitude. They bicker and argue constantly, but when Declan needs a date for family his family\u2019s Christmas gatherings, Maddie is the only one that comes to mind. So, promising her a week off in exchange for being his fake girlfriend, the deal is made.<\/p>\n \u201c<\/i>Are you seriously for real right now? You want your family to think that <\/i>I\u2019m your girlfriend?\u201d I LOVE the dynamic between these two. From text messages to faked professionalism and fiery confrontations, every moment between them absolutely sizzles with chemistry and their non-stop fighting feels more like foreplay. They are both attracted to the other, though they\u2019ve never so much at hinted at it, but now they are getting drunk together, flirting over Christmas karaoke, and travelling away from home, and the walls are coming down. All of that sexual tension is set to explode, and it\u2019s hot, hilarious, and a fantastic reflection of all that they are to each other.<\/p>\n \u201cTell me you want me.\u201d The way he says it, it\u2019s an order, and for once, I am loving this bossy tone. The sexy time is sizzling, but Declan and Maddie\u2019s connection is a whole lot deeper than just their mad lust, and I loved watching the depth of their feelings come to the surface as everything starts to shift between them. Things get even more intense when Declan\u2019s family enter the picture, and Maddie finds out the real reason he needs her. There are family dramas to deal with, but most of all, Declan and Maddie need to figure out what\u2019s actually going on between them, because suddenly, their fake relationship doesn\u2019t feel quite so fake anymore.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t want to lose her as an assistant, and I don\u2019t want to lose her as a girlfriend. I want all of it to be real, and I want all of it to last.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s a beautiful story, and I love the way it unfolded. It felt real, I laughed and swooned, and I felt everything right along with them. I love Declan and Maddie individually, and as a couple, and I could not get enough of their epic banter and their fun, playful relationship.<\/p>\n I loved meeting Declan\u2019s family, and I\u2019m so excited that we\u2019re going to get a novel for his younger brother, Eddie. That already sounds like a fantastic setup, and I can\u2019t wait for more!<\/p>\n This book left me with a huge smile on my face. Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing from a Canadian university and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn’t allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now she\u2019s breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words.
