In the last book we saw a sort-of flirtation start between them and things between them were progressing nicely before a misunderstanding saw Trevor pushing Liz away. When this book starts he realises he has screwed up – big time – but he can’t get Liz out of his head, and he’s determined to make up for his mistake and claim Liz as his own. But as much as Liz still cares deeply for Trevor, he’s hurt her badly, and she’s terrified of being left again so she doesn’t make it easy for him.

And thus begins the caveman courtship…

“This is going to happen.”
“What?” I ask, my eyebrows drawn together in confusion. His finger comes up and skims down the center of my face, forehead to chin.
“You and I, we’re going to happen.”

Yep, Trevor comes storming into Liz’s life, using everything he’s got to win her over (and just sayin’ – in the bedroom, he’s got quite the arsenal… dayum, it’s hot!). It must be said that she doesn’t put up too much of a fight, which is just as well because Trevor practically drags her into a relationship, refusing to take no for an answer.

“So are you and Liz living together?”
“Yes, but don’t tell her I told you that.”
“So you’re living together but she doesn’t know it?”
“Pretty much.” I shrug.

As much as I love a great alpha male, I do think that Trevor took it a bit far at times. At times it seemed more obsession than love, especially when he comes out with little gems like this…

I told her that I want to start working on getting her pregnant. I need to know that she is tied to me in a way that is unbreakable…..It might make me a controlling dick, but I need it. I have to know that we have something to tie us together through eternity.

Really? And Liz is a strong girl, but it seems that she can be easily swayed any time Trevor whips his dick out or puts his mouth on her (both of which he does with great frequency). She even admits it!

Now, you tell me, if Trevor Mayson was inside you, asking you to live with him, what would you do? Exactly.

I think the constant caveman behaviour dulled down the romance for me a little bit, because I didn’t feel it as much in this book as I did in the first one. Trevor and Liz were both saying the right things, I just didn’t feel as invested. But despite this, I still thought it was a fun read. There’s a bit of drama which occurs, but it’s external to the relationship, leaving Trevor and Liz free to explore what’s happening between them, and their journey together is really gorgeous, right through to the HEA epilogue which gives us great closure.

“I love you. Don’t ever doubt that you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

I love that the entire family plays such a big part in the story, and that we get to see more progression for the couple from the previous book although it has to be said –

Spoiler

WTF are Asher and November thinking naming their daughters July, May and June? I read that and “WTF?”’d out loud. How can anybody take that seriously? *sigh*.

There is also a great lead in to Cash’s book, and even though we only hear about it without seeing it, his and Lily’s story is already incredibly intense. I’m sure their story will be a great one, and I’m looking forward to diving in.

3 stars.

The Until series

<div
