The final book in the Maverick Montana<\/i> series, this is a brother\u2019s-best-friend\/friends-to-lovers story with a touch of suspense and excitement, and a whole lot of hilarious old-lady interference.<\/p>\n

After reading about the Lodge\/Freeze brothers in the first three books of this series, I was beyond excited to get to the story of their baby sister, Dawn, and the man she has loved for years, Hawk, her brother Colton\u2019s best friend.<\/p>\n

Hawk (and the rest of the town) is well aware of Dawn\u2019s feelings, but he\u2019s avoided them for years. Not only is she the little sister of his best friend, but after suffering a devastating betrayal while in the service, he is a man on a mission of vengeance, and he has no time for anything else. But when he returns home and discovers an all-grown-up Dawn looking completely irresistible, he finally stops pushing her away, and even though he\u2019s only in town for a week, he plans to make it a week to remember.<\/p>\n

He was tired of fighting, and he was tired of wishing. Most of all, he was tired of wondering.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve been chasing me for years, baby, and it\u2019s time I caught you.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As with the other books in the series, the connection between Hawk and Dawn is sexy and intense. It\u2019s all fire, and the sexy time is sizzling. But complications arise when his presence has put Dawn, and her family that he loves as his own, in danger. Torn between the woman he loves and the duty that has driven him his whole life, he has a battle on his hands to do what he thinks is right, and Dawn is caught in the crossfire.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a tumultuous ride for these two, but at the centre of it is the fact that they love each other fiercely – though they\u2019ve never admitted it, they already know. But there are external pressures outside of the norm that they have to deal with, and with their very lives in danger, things are pretty extreme. They have a lot to figure out, and it\u2019s a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns as they work through it all.<\/p>\n

He’d known. He’d known if he ever touched her, she’d burn him. Dawn Freeze was all in – no matter what she did. Now, she was all into him.
\nAnd it fucking felt great.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There\u2019s been a lot of mystery surrounding Hawk throughout the series, and I was really glad to finally get his story and to learn more about him. He\u2019s a great character \u2013 loyal, protective and loving \u2013 and he goes through a lot in this book as he figures out his life and what he truly wants.<\/p>\n

“Most guys don’t like that much wildness.” He tucked the picture back into his wallet. “I do. Don’t want to tame it. Don’t even want to mellow it. I just want to possess it and keep it close, wrap myself in it and keep it safe.”<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The blend of romance, drama and suspense is really well done, and though this is a great end to the series, I would have loved an epilogue just to close it all off a bit more. We get to see the characters from the previous books, and the scenes between Hawk and the boys were just gold! (And shout out to the little old ladies in town \u2018helping\u2019 Dawn to catch her man. God, what a riot!). I\u2019m hoping it\u2019s not the last we\u2019ve seen of this group, because there\u2019s still a story waiting to be told for Reece, and I\u2019d be keen to revisit Mineral Lake again.<\/p>\n

I have binged these books back to back, unable to let these characters or their quirky little town go. Fun, easy, sexy romance with a suspenseful twist, I\u2019ve loved it.<\/p>\n
