Sweet, sexy, super-functional and beautifully emotional, it’s a fantastic story for much-loved Jagger Black, and a wonderful finish to the Chaos series.

Jagger is the youngest son of Keely, and ‘adopted’ son of Hound (from Wild Like the Wind) and brother of Dutch (from Wild Fire). Jagger was only 3 years old when his father, the heart and soul of the Chaos MC, was murdered. He doesn’t remember his father, but his death, and the grief of his mother and the club as a whole, has impacted his life in a big way. It’s while visiting his father’s grave as a 16 year old that he first lays eyes on a girl across the way, broken and grieving, attending the funeral of her mother.

Jagger makes contact, writing the girl a note which is everything to her, and their lives continue to cross over the years, but they never get the chance to explore the connection to each other that they both feel. It’s not until around then years later that Jagger sees the same girl in trouble, and he wades in to help, sparking a chemistry-fuelled interaction which leads Jagger to the conclusion that now is the time to finally make his move.

He was hers. And he had been since she was fourteen. And she was his.

Archie is all kinds of awesome. A little bit punk, a little bit boho, all unique and all in on life, she is wild, confident, and completely open, and I kind of have a girl-crush on her. She doesn’t hold back with Jagger, letting him know all that he meant to her and all that she’s felt in the intervening years, and also letting him know that she is instantly all-in, and it’s on.

“If you believe in God or fate or destiny or karma or whatever, I was there for you the day you needed me the most. And I may have fucked up along the way, but I’m standing right here telling you, unless shit goes south in a way neither of us can turn that tide, I’ll always be there for you.”

Fun, intense, honest and super passionate, Jagger and Archie are all about each other as they start a life together. It’s beautiful to watch, and there’s a great cast of friends and family that are a part of their journey. Archie has some family drama, and Jagger is there to have her back, there’s also a storyline for the kids that Archie cares for, particularly an 11 year old boy who is struggling with life, and Jagger wades in to help him too. It’s your typical KA romance, and I was loving the ride.

“What you said about me being your person … I think you’re my person too.”

But then there this added emotional storyline for Jagger. He has grown up in the shadow of his father without a single memory of the man. That has left its mark, and now that he’s found the girl that is his future, it’s messing with him and though he’s fully committed, he is holding a part of himself back from her. Watching Jag understand and deal with his grief for a man he never knew is heartbreaking. I ached for him, and I actually shed a couple of tears as he works his way through it all. The whole storyline is gorgeous as Archie and Jagger’s family (both through blood and through brotherhood) are there for him, and watching him find his way forward through that to claim his happy is just beautiful.

“He died before he taught me how to love … Everyone loves him so much” he pushed out. “And I have no fucking clue who he is.”
… “Oh, baby … He’s you.”

I loved being back in this world and catching up with characters that I love so much (Joker and Carissa – squee!). The Chaos family is fantastic to see when they are there supporting each other, and I loved that Jagger unquestionably has that.

I believe this is the end of the Chaos series, and even after the official ending with Rush’s book, getting the stories of the two Black boys has been the icing on the cake. Jagger and Archie’s book is everything that I love about KA’s books – a functional, sexy and honest romance, with so much heart and emotion. I loved this one!

4.5 stars!

The Chaos series

<img
