A gorgeous story of unexpected romance, with a suspenseful twist, this is the first book in Devney\u2019s Perry\u2019s new series, The Edens<\/i>, and it\u2019s a fantastic beginning to what I\u2019m sure will be another favourite. I loved this one!<\/p>\n

The Edens focusses on the Eden family, descendants of the founders of Quincy, a small country town in Montana. This is the story of rancher, Griffin, the eldest of the six Eden siblings (secretly squeeing that we\u2019ll probably get a book for each of them), and a man dedicated to a job that he loves, to the exclusion of pretty much everything else in his life.<\/p>\n

Winslow has just moved to Quincy to become the new Chief of Police. Her grandfather is the Mayor, and her father grew up in the town, and she spent many happy childhood holidays there. Now, her parents are gone, and she\u2019s just out of a miserable relationship, so she\u2019s moved for a fresh start and to be close to the only family she has left. On her first night in town she\u2019s at a local bar when she meets Griffin. There is flirting, and an immediate attraction, and they end up sharing a hot as hell night together before going their separate ways\u2026 or so they thought.<\/p>\n

Neither of them are interested in relationships. Winslow is new in town and desperate to make a good impression at her new job, and Griffin is a busy man whose life is his ranch. They both thought the other was just passing through town, so when they run in to each other again, it\u2019s awkward as hell. But when a dead body is found on the Eden ranch, they are suddenly thrust back together as Winn comes to investigate.<\/p>\n

Griffin is initially stand-offish, wanting nothing to do with the new arrival in town, but he\u2019s impressed by Winn\u2019s intelligence and tenacity, and it seems the two of them can\u2019t stay away from each other. Their encounters initially revolve around Winn\u2019s case, but soon become something more as the two people who were so determined to stay away from each other discover that their attraction is absolutely irresistible.<\/p>\n

An inch, maybe two, separated our bodies. That tiny gap crackled, the electricity between us just as strong as it had been at Willie\u2019s. She was more beautiful than I\u2019d realized sitting in that dark, musty bar.
\nWinn\u2019s blue eyes broke from mine, and the moment her gaze dropped to my mouth, I was done for.
\nI leaned closer.
\n\u201cWhat are you doing?\u201d she whispered.
\n\u201cI have no fucking clue.\u201d Then my lips were on hers. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s such a great dynamic. Their chemistry is wild, and they are both honest and upfront about what they want from each other \u2013 sex, with no promise of anything more. And it works\u2026 for a while\u2026. until it doesn\u2019t, and they unexpectedly but oh-so-naturally find everything changing.<\/p>\n

Casual was becoming a craving. We\u2019d sailed past uncomplicated weeks ago. Whatever boundaries we\u2019d erected had been destroyed.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s a gorgeously slow-building romance that is so sweet to watch. They don\u2019t fight it, they don\u2019t avoid it, they just go with the flow, and I loved watching them fall!<\/p>\n

It had happened so naturally, this fall into Winn. Like I was out for a short drive, and when I looked back to where I\u2019d started, instead of traveling yards, I\u2019d gone miles.
\nDeeper and deeper, until there was no turning back.
\nI was in it with this woman.
\nSo fucking in it. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, Winn\u2019s investigation continues, and what is initially assumed to be a suicide may actually be something more sinister, and she is determined to get to the bottom of the case, and other assumed suicides in town which may be anything but. This brings a mystery\/suspense storyline to the book which had me guessing, and certainly brings some surprising twists, and all leads up to an exciting ending that ties in really well with the love story, and which definitely had my heart pounding!<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed this book. It\u2019s beautifully written and so engaging, and I was swept up in the love story, the suspense, and the sweet town of Quincy. I loved Griff and Winn as characters, and loved getting to meet the extended Eden family. This is a great group, and there are sure to be some epic stories our way. It looks like Knox is next up, and I can\u2019t wait for his story in Juniper Hill<\/em>. There\u2019s a wonderful epilogue which finishes off Griff and Winn\u2019s story beautifully, and that bonus epilogue was the icing on top of the cake.<\/p>\n

Such a great read \u2013 4.5 stars.<\/p>\n
