This is the second book in the Elemental Covenant<\/i> series, a spin-off from the Elemental Mysteries<\/i> series, continuing the story of vampires Carwyn and Brigid, and their private investigation business.<\/p>\n

Their latest case has them in northern California. Summer, a human with ties to a large vampire clan, and her boyfriend, Daniel, have gone missing while hiking in the forest. Suspecting foul play, Carwyn and Brigid are brought in to track the missing humans, and possibly stave off a brewing vampire territory war. But they uncover something far more sinister than they were expecting \u2013 a sadistic vampire with an evil plot that involves kidnapping young hikers off the trail.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an exciting adventure, full of intrigue and supernatural badassery. And not only do we see Carwyn and Brigid\u2019s investigation (involving new allies and old), but we also get to see Summer and Daniel\u2019s ordeal, so we get to know them, and watch what they\u2019re going through. I really enjoyed this alternate perspective, and even with us seeing all of the different pieces of the story, there are still surprising twists and turns, and I loved watching the whole story unfold.<\/p>\n

I love this world, and these characters, and was so happy to be back with Carwyn and Brigid. They are such a strong force, but they have this playfulness about them that is so much fun, and Carwyn is still so funny. Their love for each other is beautiful, and there\u2019s plenty of swoon and sexy time.<\/p>\n

\nHis expression melted into softness, even as he moved his hard body in hers. \u201cMy life.\u201d He kissed her forehead. \u201cMy wife.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fans of this world will love that Baojia and Natalie are along to help out with this case, and of course I loved seeing more of them. And Summer and Daniel\u2019s story was a surprising treat. I really liked them as characters, and I\u2019m hoping we get to see more of them in the future.<\/p>\n

This is an exciting mystery story with drama, action, and fun, with more than one great romance. I loved being back in this world, and was sucked into the story from start to finish.<\/p>\n

Such a great read \u2013 4.5 stars.<\/p>\n
