Who would have thought that the zombie apocalypse could be so damn sexy?!

Set in post-apocalyptic Australia, it’s been 8 weeks since civilisation collapsed after a virus turned most of the population into flesh eating zombies. Ali has been hiding in her neighbour’s attic since the world went to hell, and while she is out scavenging for food she literally runs into Daniel – a fellow survivor. Daniel is craving human companionship, and convinces Ali that they have a better chance of survival if they stick together, so they team up and head off to search for help. Of course Dan is motivated by the need to survive, but he’s also heavily influenced by his hormones, and from the moment he sees Ali, he wants her. It’s been too long since he’s been with a woman, and he’s determined to have her.

OMG, I love Dan! He’s absolutely hilarious! Despite their circumstances, he’s constantly joking around, he’s completely irreverent and he’s a total horn-bag who wants Ali bad and has no problem with saying it how it is.

“You promised to behave,” he scolded. “Bad girl.”
“Fuck you.”
“Good idea, I love where you’re going with that. But let’s say we talk first, Get to know each other.” He gave her the biggest shit-eating grin of his life, the one that had been dying to burst out of him.

“Tell me I’m right again. Slowly this time. Really draw out the words, play it up for me. Feel free to pant in between if it feels natural.”

“Why can’t you give me a straight answer?”
“Why can’t you ride me like a pony?” He scowled straight back at her, unrepentant. “Don’t pretty girls like ponies? I thought they did.”

And with effortless charm and lines like that, it’s not too long before Dan is getting his way and he and Ali dive into some super-smutty hijinks. It’s natural and easy, and really freaking hot, with lots of light-hearted banter and joking around.

“What say we call it a night. Find someplace safe to hole up and practice our repopulation methods. Do it for our country. What do you think?”

“I only took off my shirt, Daniel. The bra isn’t even all that revealing,” she replied, cool as can be, plush mouth set all prim and proper. “If all it takes for you to lose your cool is the hint of hard nipples then I’m concerned on your behalf.”
“Shit. Say hard nipples again.”
Her body vibrated beneath him with soft laughter. “No.”
He groaned, lowered his face so they were nose to nose, staring at each other. Each, perhaps, a little freaked out.

And then along comes Finn. Finn is an ex-police officer who comes to Ali and Dan’s defence one night while they are too caught up in each other to remember that there is actually a zombie apocalypse going on, and he shifts up their dynamic big time! He’s also attracted to Ali, and when Dan recognises him as somebody else who can help him protect the woman he loves, he pushes for them to get even closer.

Sharing was not in his nature, but nature would have to adapt.

Yes, it’s a menage in the middle of the zombie apocalypse, and all I can say is that Ali is one lucky girl! Both of these guys are fiercely protective, highly sexed and worship the very ground she walks on, and the sexy time is absolutely steaming! But let’s not forget that they are traipsing their way through highly dangerous situations across the Australian countryside looking for fellow survivors. But when they finally find it, is it everything that they hoped? And can their unique relationship survive under the pressures and danger that they are facing?

This is a fun read. Don’t go into it expecting anything emotionally intense or groundbreaking. It’s exactly what it sounds like – a smutty book set in the zombie apocalypse. Hard-core zombie fans probably won’t be impressed, with not a lot of world building and limited zombie interaction time, but that’s not really what this book is about. It’s an erotic romance novel that just happens to be set in a scary post-apocalyptic world. It adds a nice intensity to things and allows the reader to overlook the massive insta-love that’s going on. And I love that Kylie is able to keep things light and lets her sense of humour comes through even in the direst of circumstances.

What’s the plan?
“We run.” Daniel informed her with all due sincerity.
“Huh. One day soon can the plan involve a touch more complexity? Not that I’m complaining or anything.”
“Complain, you? Never. You’re a constant delight.”

I really enjoyed this book. It’s good fun, and hilariously funny with some super-hot scenes and a nice amount of action to keep it interesting. There is a love story, fast developing and without a whole lot of detail, but it provides a nice balance to everything else going on.

3.5 stars.

Flesh

Flesh (#1)
Review
Buy: Amazon | Paperback | Audio

Skin (#2)
Buy: Amazon | Paperback | Audio

Buy: Amazon | Paperback | Audio Review All aboard for a smut-tastic romp through the zombie apocalypse!
