I loved this story.

Maddox Holiday is the eldest of the Holiday Brothers, and he made a fortune when he started his own streaming company. Now divorced, with sole custody of his slightly terrifying seven-year-old daughter, Violet, he’s moving from LA back home to Montana for a fresh start and to be closer to his family.

Natalie is a nanny who rocks up to her first day on a one-week temp job to find that she’s working for her high school crush and object of all of her teenage fantasies. It’s slightly awkward, but she’s a professional, and the job is only for a week. And young Violet takes up plenty of attention with her naughty (though very entertaining) behaviour.

Sparks fly between Maddox and Natalie, and attraction develops pretty quickly on both sides. And what I love so much about this couple is that they don’t hide it. They’re completely up front about it, and their flirting and teasing is so much fun to watch.

“Are you having fun?” I asked, trying to put a little space between us. Anything to ease the bloom of desire spreading in my lower belly.
Maddox wouldn’t have it. He pulled me closer, flush against his hard planes. “I am now.”
Oh, sweet baby Jesus in the manger. “Are you flirting with me?”
“I am. Do you mind?”
“No.”

Their situation is complicated because neither of them want to cross the nanny/employer line, but with all that they are feeling, they’re not going to let that stand in their way for too long.

“I like you, Maddox. I’ve always liked you. I don’t know if you want to explore this or not–”
“I do.”
Relief coursed through my veins. “Then I can’t be the nanny. Violet needs someone who’s only about her. She deserves that.”
“Agreed.” He took one of my hands. “You’re fired.”

Things move quickly, and blessedly functionally, and though they have some issues they need to figure out, it was so beautiful to watch them work through it, and this is an angst and drama-free read with an emotional, sexy, sweet and fun romance that captured my heart.

“I want this. You and me. I don’t want to take it slow. I don’t want to wait to be with you.”

Maddox and Natalie are both wonderful characters – I love their honesty, their humour, and the way that they openly follow their hearts. Little Violet has some great moments in the book, and I love what a big part of the story was, and the way that her relationships with her Dad and Natalie were explored.

There’s an epilogue which finishes everything beautifully, and glimpses of Maddox’s younger brothers that will have you running to read their books – if you haven’t already.

Such a fun read, I loved this one!

4.5 stars.

An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Holiday
