Their lives were touched by tragedy when the local team of hotshot firefighters were killed while defending the town from an inferno – their fathers included – but they found deep, true, all-consuming love… until Bash left town without notice, never looking back.

Six years later, and Bash is back in town to rebuild his father’s crew, but he faces opposition from the council, who do not want to open the town up for devastation again. And for the first time since he left, he has to face Emerson.

I’d only ever left her physically. Even six years couldn’t rip her out of my soul, and she was here, more incredible than ever and only a touch away.

The intensity between Bash and Emerson is palpable from the moment they are reunited. She’s still understandably hurt and angry, but there’s no denying the connection between them, and Bash makes it clear to her that the feelings he had for her are just as strong as ever.

“You and I are inevitable, and you know it. We always have been. Gasoline and fire, remember.”
… “I’m not denying that. But we both know that I’m the one who ends up a giant pile of ashes, so forgive me if I’m not quite ready to let you burn me again.”

It’s a quick read, and there’s not a lot of time for build-up, but all of the emotion that I love about second-chance romance is there. It’s intense and passionate, and I could feel it all, and loved watching them give into everything that is still between them. And oh holy God, is it sexy!

“This pull between us? That fire that catches and burns us from the first touch? That’s not even a tenth of how deeply, dangerously, completely I love you.”

The love story is so beautiful, and I was fully invested in Bash and Emerson as a couple. But they have hurdles to cross – not only what happened between them in the past, but also what they want for the future. In the meantime, he’s got to get the team together, and there’s no guarantee he can even do that. But Bash, Emerson and their friends are determined to carry on the legacy of their fathers, and watching them come together and fight for it is awesome to see.

This book is a wonderful setup for the ongoing story off the series. I loved the love story so much, and enjoyed getting to know loved Bash, Emerson and their friends, and can’t wait for more stories in the series.

Such a great read, I loved it! 5 stars.

Legacy

<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async"
