This is the second novella in the Legacy<\/i> series, a dramatic and heartfelt best-friends-to-lovers romance that is full of emotion, and I loved it!<\/p>\n

This book takes please during the same timeframe as the first novella in the series, Point of Origin<\/i>. And while you could read this as a standalone, I\u2019d definitely recommend starting with the first book, which fully sets the scene for the series to come.<\/p>\n

This is River\u2019s story. He and his brother moved to Alaska from their small home town in Colorado to follow in their late father\u2019s footsteps and become firefighters. It\u2019s a job they\u2019re both passionate about, and they have created good lives for themselves. And River\u2019s life wouldn\u2019t be complete without his best friend, Avery. They are as close as could be, and are secretly in love with each other, but neither of them have ever even tried to make a move.<\/p>\n

These two are so freaking cute! They are fun and playful together, all up in each other\u2019s lives, and it\u2019s clear that they care for each other deeply. We (and pretty much everybody else in their lives) can immediately see that there\u2019s so much more to them than just friendship. All it takes is one spark to change everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou kissed me and I stopped being best-friend Avery and turned into\u2026I don\u2019t even know. Kissable Avery?\u201d
\nHe stalked forward until he stood just a breath away, close enough to touch, but not. \u201cYou have always been kissable Avery, I\u2019ve just never been allowed to kiss you like I wanted. You\u2019re also fuckable Avery.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The shift from friends to more<\/i> is effortless for them. And though it may come as a bit of a shock, it\u2019s natural, and I love how they happily follow their hearts to explore everything they could be together.<\/p>\n

And now the series tie-in \u2013 the first book of the series tells the story of a man looking to rebuild his late father\u2019s team of hotshot firefighters after they were all killed defending their small Colorado town. River and his older brother are the children of the original Legacy crew, and they’ve been called home to resurrect and build on their legacy, and in his heart, River knows it\u2019s where he needs to be. And he wants Avery to come with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make a life with you here. It\u2019s not just about leaving my best friend behind, it\u2019s about what we have between us \u2013 what we can be if we just give this a chance.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Avery desperately wants a new life with the man she loves, but she has ties to Alaska and can\u2019t leave. They\u2019re torn between two impossible situations, and will have to dig deep to figure out how they can build the life together that they\u2019re both so desperate to have.<\/p>\n

This is another short read in the series, but again, it packs an emotional punch, and I was completely caught up in River and Avery\u2019s story. I love them as characters, I love them even more together, and I loved watching them realise what they have and fight so hard to find their happy.<\/p>\n

We get to see the characters that were all introduced in the first book, and I am so freaking excited for this series to continue! This is a great bunch, and I can\u2019t wait to get to know them more.<\/p>\n

I loved this one \u2013 4.5 stars!<\/p>\n
