Jewel E. Ann does not disappoint. Her books bring on all the feels and keep the readers invested long after the last page is turned. She weaves unique characters with original storylines and packs them full of heartbreak and healing, love and laughter, and even some mystery and suspense at times. Pieces of a Life<\/i> gives us all that and more, and I couldn\u2019t put it down.<\/p>\n

Josie is a medical examiner and she is awesome at her job. She has always had the drive to understand the things that interest her, things that most people don\u2019t feel the same about. She is far from normal but what makes her different is what makes her special. She is confident in herself and I love that she never tried to change.<\/p>\n

Colton is a detective who must at time work closely with Josie and it should be an easy situation except for the fact that these two have a history together that ended with massive heartache. It turned love into hate and even seventeen years later, Josie has not let the hurt go.<\/p>\n

I love books that combine enemies-to-lovers and second chances and this one is well executed. I felt the hurt, pain, betrayal, and hate that Josie has felt as well as the unique love these two share. They did not have a conventional relationship when they were young and it\u2019s still different now that they are adults. However, one thing remains – it is clear they were always meant to be. And no matter how much Josie may fight him, he won\u2019t let her go again and he won\u2019t give up. He inserts himself into her life so she can\u2019t stay away from him, and he reminds her of how they were and what they could be, making it harder for her to resist him.<\/p>\n

They are so good together and the banter is fantastic. Things begin to heat up as they rediscover each other and these two create so much sexual tension when they are around each other. Their chemistry is off the charts and I couldn\u2019t wait for them to combust.<\/p>\n

We finally see them in a good place when things take a turn that left me on the edge of my seat until the end. Just like the first duet, there is a paranormal aspect that is not easy to understand. It makes the mystery and suspense skyrocket and I can\u2019t wait to see how the story unfolds. We are left with a bit of a shocker at the end of book one that has me desperate for book two and the conclusion of this duet. I loved it!!<\/p>\n
