This is the first book in the Madigan Mountain<\/i> series \u2013 a multi-author series of interconnected storylines, with two books to come from Rebecca Yarros and Devney Perry. This is a feisty, functional and emotional second-chance-romance set in a small-town snow resort, and it\u2019s a great set-up for the rest of the series to come.<\/p>\n

Reed Madigan is travelling back to his home town in Colorado, to his family\u2019s small ski resort. He hasn\u2019t been back for years, since his mother died, his father brutally checked out, and his family fell apart, but his father is finally retiring and selling up, and Reed is there to make sure everything is above board.<\/p>\n

Ava is second in charge at Madigan Mountain, and she gets the shock of her life when Reed walks into her office. Ten years ago, they were in college together and madly in love, but it ended horribly and Ava was left broken hearted. They haven\u2019t seen or spoken to each other in a decade, and Ava is justifiably angry and upset to see Reed again. But neither of them have truly been able to move on from the other.<\/p>\n

I love a second-chance romance, and I loved seeing these two come back together. Reed messed up in the past, he knows he did, and he knows he has a lot to make up for, but he\u2019s still very much in love with Ava, and he knows this is the opportunity he never thought he\u2019d have again. He\u2019s not about to let it go without at least making amends and trying to win back the only girl he\u2019s ever loved.<\/p>\n

\u201cAva,\u201d he whispers. \u201cYou were everything to me. And I threw that away \u2026 I have so many regrets.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s flirtatious and fun as Reed pushes and Ava does her best to push him away, but underneath it all there is a lot of emotion between them. Their backstory is tragic, and they have a lot they work through, and Reed is right there, doing everything he can to win Ava back. He\u2019s sweet and stubborn, and he holds nothing back, and I loved seeing him open up and put himself out there for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a good idea,\u201d she says.
\n\u201cMaybe,\u201d I agree with a rough voice. \u201cBut I don\u2019t care. This is us. We were reckless once, and I loved every minute of it. We were young and wild, and I loved you with my whole heart. I hope you know that, even if you\u2019re still angry.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The chemistry is great, the reconciliation is full of feels, and their passion for each other is as strong as it ever was. Seeing them come back together is so right<\/i> – emotional yet functional, and super sexy, and it\u2019s exactly where they are supposed to be.<\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t been living, I realize. Not the way I used to.
\nAnd I want it back. All of it. Including Ava.

While they\u2019re finding their way back to each other, Reed and Ava are looking into the deal to buy the resort. There\u2019s a bit of drama and intrigue, and with Reed reconnecting with his father for the first time in years, there\u2019s also some intense family dynamics to deal with. And let\u2019s not forget that Reed\u2019s life in high finance is another world away in California. Suddenly, working through their issues and rediscovering their feelings for each other seems like the easy part of their journey.<\/p>\n

Reed Madigan is going to wreck me all over again. And I\u2019m going to let him.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I really enjoyed this book. Reed and Ava are great characters, I felt their chemistry and their emotion for each other, and all of the different elements of the story come together really nicely. The series is set up beautifully for Reed\u2019s brothers Weston and Crew\u2019s books, and I\u2019m excited to see what Yarros and Perry bring to the series.<\/p>\n

This is a really sweet about second chances, healing from the past, finding the courage to move forward, figuring out where you want to be and fighting for your HEA.<\/p>\n
