Man, I love me some shifter smut!<\/p>\n

I went into this book a bit hesitant, as I have seen that others haven\u2019t liked it as much as the previous two books in the series, but I loved it! Yeah, it\u2019s a little bit different, but I like that Suzanne Wright is mixing things up a bit. It would be boring if she followed the same formula all of the time.<\/p>\n

Book three in the\u00a0Phoenix Pack\u00a0<\/em>series brings us the story of Shaya and Nick. If you\u2019re a fan of the series, you will know that Shaya and Nick are destined to be true mates, but Nick has refused to claim Shaya \u2013 she believes it’s because he is a pack Alpha, and he doesn’t want her, a submissive wolf, as his mate. But Nick has the dominant, possessive thing going on and even though he won\u2019t claim her, he refuses to let anybody else near her, so Shaya does what she has to \u2013 she leaves the Phoenix pack to go and start a new life for herself where Nick can\u2019t find her. Yeah, right! *snort*<\/p>\n

When Nick discovers his unclaimed mate has taken off, he realises what his life without her would truly mean. Devastated, he drops everything to track her down and make her his. And when he finds her – OMG, he is one determined wolf!<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t let her or anyone else take you. I\u2019ll kill anyone who tries. I\u2019ve hurt you, I get that. We can take this as slow as you want. But I\u00a0<\/em>will\u00a0claim you, Shay. You\u2019re mine. I\u2019m not staying away from you anymore.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And the thing I love most about this book, is that Shaya is strong, and stands up for herself and doesn\u2019t let Nick walk all over her. He hurt her deeply, and she doesn\u2019t trust him or his motives. She isn\u2019t about to let him forget it, and she makes him work for it. Which he absolutely does! His grovel is epic, and he takes his time proving his loyalty and his commitment to Shaya, and I thought it was sensational! Yeah, she is a bit stupid about it at times, but I could understand her hesitance, and I thought the way he handled everything just made him even more awesome. I loved watching him chase her patiently, opening up to her, but staying true to his Alpha nature. And watching them get to know each other and discover more about each other while he fights for her was gorgeous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I fucked up. I\u2019ve said I\u2019m sorry for hurting you; I meant it. I promised you that I wouldn\u2019t let you down again; I meant it. You might not believe that right now, but you will in time\u2014 I won\u2019t have it any other way. You\u2019re mine, and I refuse to live my life without you in it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are everything I ever could have wanted\u2014 everything I didn\u2019t even know I wanted.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

OMG, I love Nick! I love his antisocial nature, despite the fact that so many people are drawn to him. I love that he is strong and uber-protective and tries to do what is best for those few that he cares about, and I love the way he is with Shaya. He has suffered terribly in his fight to stay away from her (all for her own protection), and is devastated about the way that she reacted to his rejection of her, but he had his reasons, and when they are revealed, I could understand why he did what he did. Could he have handled it better \u2013 sure, but nobody is perfect, and the two of them slowly work things out and come together in a beautifully functional, and respectful, relationship with lots of sexy time, and all of the teasing banter, sarcasm and dirty talk that this series is known for.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I walk through that door, I am going to fuck you. Not soft and slow, but hard and deep. Over and over, until neither of us can move. Are you ready for that?\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Running alongside Nick and Shaya\u2019s romance is a storyline about human extremists trying to eradicate all shifters. When the new threat links back to Nick\u2019s past, he and Shaya become directly involved, and who should show up to help in their time of need, but the Phoenix pack. Woohoo! Yep, the entire pack joins in on the fun, and there are some fantastic scenes when they all band together, along with a number of new characters (love Derren!), to take on the bad guys \u2013 all while teasing, bantering, growling, and generally being all badass. And I loved it!<\/p>\n

While it doesn\u2019t have the humour, or the almost constant sex that the earlier books in the series did, it was still the hot, sexy and fun read that I was expecting, and I loved it. Nick and Shaya are both great characters, and I thought their story was really gorgeous. And with a whole heap of new possibilities for future relationships, I\u2019m crazy excited for more from this series.<\/p>\n
