This is an entertaining little short, a prequel to the upcoming full-length novel, Pick Six<\/em>. It\u2019s available free on the author\u2019s website<\/a>, and only took me around half an hour to read, just enough to set the scene and get me excited for more!<\/p>\n

We are introduced to Harper, who is attending a friend\u2019s BBQ. Her friend Violet\u2019s husband is an NFL player, and so the rest of the boys from the team show up, and the team\u2019s biggest playboy, Alexander Xavier is among them. Harper and Alexander share an instant attraction, but Harper is determined to stay away from bad boys, and Alexander doesn\u2019t know how to be anything but.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know you\u2019ve been trying to avoid guys with red flags and that man is made of them.\u201d
\n\u201cThe hottest ones always are.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We see the chemistry between them, their banter and flirting is great, and we even get an almost-steamy glimpse of what could be, before Harper pulls back, knowing that although one night together would be epic, it\u2019s not what she wants. Alex is unable to offer her anything more than that, so they agree on the friendzone.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be honest. We like the idea of each other – <\/i>maybe. We wouldn\u2019t like the reality.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love the dynamic between these two already! Of course, the sexual tension is awesome, but it\u2019s how easily they fall together, how open and up front they are about themselves and their situation, all of which bodes well for whatever is to come for them.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s the kind you commit to. The kind you fall hard for. I\u2019m incapable of both.
\nUnfortunately, I still want her. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With a full-length story coming our way, this is only the beginning of their story, and I am so excited to see where their story goes from here!<\/p>\n
