A fun, flirty and banter-filled love story, full of wonderful tropes, fabulous characters, and lots of emotion, I loved it!

This is the second book in the Chestnut Springs series, but it can be read as a standalone. It is a grumpy/sunshine, single dad/nanny, age gap (he’s 38, she’s 25), opposites attract love story with a deliciously slow burning romance and a gorgeous HEA. It’s full of chemistry and so damn sexy, and the swoon made me dreamy sigh more than once.

Cade is the broody eldest brother of the Eaton clan. His mother died when he was only 8, and he pitched in to help run the ranch and raise his siblings. Now, he’s a devoted single father to his adorable five-year old son, Luke, and he’s running the family ranch. He’s serious and responsible, and teased for being a grump, but he’s a caretaker at heart, always putting others before himself and making sure his loved ones are looked after.

Willa is the best friend of Summer (heroine of book #1, Flawless). She is everything Cade is not – fun-loving, sassy, sarcastic and completely filterless, and she’s so awesome! When Cade is stuck without a babysitter for the summer, Summer volunteers her bestie, who falls instantly in love with little Luke, and jumps at the chance to spend the summer with him. It’s an easy job, and Willa’s having a blast with it, except things become complicated by the wild attraction between her and her boss.

Cade is all scowls. All thick arms and broad chest and furrowed brow. Dirty boots. Muscular thighs. Cowboy porn with a frown.

It’s not a unique set up, by any means, but Cade and Willa are wonderfully written, and their interactions are so damn entertaining. Snarky and full of chemistry, with Willa holding absolutely nothing back and having a glorious time pushing all of Cade’s buttons, while he tries to respect their age gap, and Willa’s role in his family, and keep his distance. It’s so much fun, and I excitedly read, full of anticipation as I waited for something to happen.

The flirting is intense, and hints at epic sexy time to come, but rather than becoming a wild sex-fest, this one is actually a slow burn, and it’s so damn good! There’s time for the chemistry to sizzle, for their feelings to really grow, and for the emotion to become such a huge part of their attraction, and I loved watching them fall so hopelessly.

I realize in that moment maybe I am heartless after all, because the beautiful girl with the copper hair grinning back at me right now is the one who stole it.

But never fear, my fellow smut-lovers, the sex-fest does come, and you know how they say it’s the quiet ones that you have to watch out for? Well holy hot damn, in this case they’re right! Cade is a filthy, slightly kinky, sex god full of hot moves and dirty talk, and this book had me fanning myself multiple times, shocked at the things coming out of this man’s mouth!

“Cade,” her lips part on my name, her tongue darting out to wet them. “God.”
“He’s not here right now, baby. It’s just me. And I’m done asking nicely. I’m ready to take.”

Willa’s time with Cade and Luke is only for the summer, and as her time with the boys comes to an end, she is due to return to her life in the city. They’ve both got some soul searching to do when it comes to figuring out what they want for the future, but it’s pretty much angst-free, and I loved watching them work through it all to get to their blissfully happy ending.

I’ve never properly loved a woman before. Never wanted one like this.

What I love so much about this romance is that we see it all. The epic build up, the wild sexiness, the emotion and the feelings, and into the happy ending and a little bit beyond. It’s all there, and I feel like I truly experienced the journey with these two, and I loved every moment of it.

I also loved getting to see so much of Cade’s family. Little Luke is adorable and brings so much to the story, Rhett and Summer are there supporting/giving shit along the way, Cade’s father is freaking hilarious, and I loved the glimpse we get of the next couple to get a book. I’m loving this series, I adored this book, and I cannot wait to continue on.

5 stars!

Chestnut Springs

<div data-post-id="70867"
