This is a gorgeous read. A funny, sweet and heartfelt m\/m, opposites attract hockey romance with two fabulous heroes who both stole my heart!<\/p>\n

Though you can absolutely read this book as a standalone, it\u2019s the second book in the Hockey Guys<\/i> series, and a fantastic continuation of Bowen\u2019s larger hockey world.<\/p>\n

Hockey player Tomasso DiCosta is new to the Colorado Cougars, he\u2019s just moved into his new house, and he\u2019s looking to get it furnished and looking homey before his beloved mother comes to visit for Christmas. He is a total alpha sports dude and neither knows nor cares about home furnishings, so when he runs into a designer in a furniture store, it\u2019s his lucky day.<\/p>\n

Carter Flynn is rebuilding after his interior design business pretty much imploded due to bad decisions made by his ex-partner, and he\u2019s trying to get his work and personal life back on track. Tomasso\u2019s job is his saving grace, and he throws himself into the task with excitement and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s such a fun dynamic as Carter and his passion for home furnishings comes up against a grumpy hockey player who is used to living with nothing but a TV and a bed, and their interplay is so entertaining! They bicker and banter, and their text messages are so fun. But the more time they spend together, their dynamic shifts as attraction starts to grow.<\/p>\n

Openly gay Carter takes in stride, secretly but happily ogling Tomasso\u2019s \u201cabs of glory\u201d while keeping his feelings to himself, but he does wonder about his broody new friend who sends some very mixed vibes. For Tomasso, it\u2019s complicated. After dealing with homophobic family members all his life, he is very closed off and isolated, he\u2019s never acted on his attraction to men, in fact he\u2019s buried it and has spent his whole life trying to ignore it. But Carter, his friendship, and their ever-growing attraction changes all of that and soon Tomasso is starting to accept the intensity of his feelings and thinking about the kind of life he wants to live, undeniably drawn to the man who has very quickly come to mean so much to him.<\/p>\n

It’s a slow burn, and such a beautiful, natural shift, and I felt every moment as Tomasso and Carter quietly fall for each other. And when they finally start to explore things between them, we get the most beautiful romance that is funny, sweet, emotional and steamy. They are honest with each other, and though they have a lot to figure out and some personal demons to deal with, I could understand and empathise with where both of them were at. They deal with it well, and there is just enough drama to bring intensity to their story, while setting up a wonderfully happy ending for these two.<\/p>\n

While all this is going on, Tomasso\u2019s hockey team is also going through a bit of a shift, and there\u2019s lots of time spent with the boys, which is always fun (including Tomasso\u2019s neighbours, Hudson and Gavin from the first book in the series). And there\u2019s even some Brooklyn Bruisers<\/i> cameos! I loved the dynamics between the guys, and seeing them so unconditionally there for each other.<\/p>\n

I listened to this as an audiobook narrated by Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton, and it\u2019s a fantastic one to listen to! These two are a well-established duo for Sarina\u2019s m\/m books, and they do a great job balancing the funny and the feels.<\/p>\n

I loved this book. 4.5 stars!<\/p>\n
