This is the first book in a new series by Stacy Travis, set in Californian wine country, where five siblings are running their family\u2019s vineyard empire. It\u2019s a grumpy\/sunshine, single dad\/nanny romance that is a sweet and easy read.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jackson Corbett is a gorgeous single dad who doesn\u2019t want complications at his family winery. And I\u2019m the messy tornado who just offered to be his new nanny.<\/p>\n When I show up for a job interview in my pajamas and at the wrong time, my interviewer isn\u2019t there, but Jackson is. He scowls and tells me to take a hike, insisting I don\u2019t really want to work in the tasting room at Buttercup Hill Vineyards.<\/p>\n But I do. Years of sommelier courses and amateur wine-making have landed me here, at the best winery in Napa Valley. I can see that he\u2019s overworked and stretched thin with parenting and a stressful job. So I make a deal with him\u2014if I\u2019m hired by the winery, I\u2019ll work a second job as his nanny.<\/p>\n I can endure the world\u2019s grouchiest dad and entertain his feisty seven-year-old if it means career advancement and paying off my debts.<\/p>\n There\u2019s no risk of romantic entanglement because Jackson is a grade-A grump\u2014albeit a hot and chiseled one\u2014who\u2019s been burned by love. The weight of the world sits on his muscular shoulders, and he spends most of his time worrying about the vineyard\u2019s finances and looking at spreadsheets.<\/p>\n The last thing I\u2019m concerned about is how he looks at me.<\/p>\n Until he does.<\/p>\n I catch him sneaking glances, and I can\u2019t help staring right back. He\u2019s grumpy at the best of times, but while trying to do the best for his daughter, he\u2019s also dealing with a pending financial crisis left behind by his unwell father. He\u2019s doing his best to manage everything on his own, but he\u2019s drowning in the stress of it all.<\/p>\n Ruby is obsessed with wine, and after years of study she is a wannabe sommelier, desperate for a job at the prestigious Buttercup Hill Vineyards. When she rocks up early for an interview, the first person she encounters is Jackson, and their first meeting doesn\u2019t really go well. She recognises that he\u2019s frazzled, and in attempt to help her chances of getting hired, she offers to be his nanny if she gets the job at the winery. Of course, Jackson reluctantly accepts, and of course, Ruby gets the job, which sets them up for lots of close proximity moments, lingering glances and clenching body parts. It\u2019s not too long before the boss\/employee line is crossed, Ruby becomes a part of the family, and feelings start to develop.<\/p>\n I\u2019m at risk of falling so far, so fast for this woman, and there\u2019s not a goddamn thing I can do about it. I\u2019ll enjoy the entire way down, even if I land on my face. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This is a sweet and easy read. It\u2019s a slow build up to actual romance, but it\u2019s a gorgeously swoony, sexy and heartfelt relationship that develops. Jackson falls first and hardest, which is so sweet to see, and though they both have some personal things they\u2019re dealing with which creates a bit of drama, there\u2019s no real conflict in this one. They just have some things to figure out, which they achieve without creating unnecessary angst.<\/p>\n Jackson\u2019s daughter, Fiona, is cutie, and I loved her relationship with both Ruby and her dad. There\u2019s a good introduction to Jackson\u2019s siblings, and the tense situation with their father. And if I could only eat one food group, it would be cheese. Or wine. Or bread. Are those food\u00a0groups?
