The eighth and final book in the Southern Wedding<\/i> series, this book is more directly linked to the Southern<\/i> series. Grace is the daughter of Quinn and Willow from Southern Heat (Southern Series, #6), and therefore the granddaughter of Casey and Olivia from Southern Comfort, (Southern Series, #2). The family appear in this book, and though I loved seeing them again, you could easily read this one as a standalone.<\/p>\n

Grace is looking for a change in her life, and the chance to get out and live without the constant presence of her beloved but all-consuming family hanging over her. She\u2019s headed off to the big city, and she\u2019s got a job as the personal assistant to a guy who seems to hate her on sight.<\/p>\n

Caine is a devoted single dad to a 4-year-old daughter, and he\u2019s focussed on her, and his job. He has no time for relationships, and he resents the fact that he\u2019s so wildly attracted to his new assistant who is nine years younger than him and doesn\u2019t back away from his snarky attitude. In fact, she snarks right back, and he has no idea why that only intensifies his attraction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, you know what they say when you assume things.\u201d I cock my hip to the side. \u201cYou make an ass out of you and you.\u201d
\n\u201cIsn\u2019t it, you make an ass out of you and me?\u201d
\n\u201cUsually, but in this case, you are the only one who\u2019s an ass,\u201d I state. \u201cIt had nothing to do with me, and it was all you.\u201d I raise my hand and do a circle in front of me toward him. \u201cNo, I accept your apology this time, but just so you know, and we are up front, I\u2019m not going to forget you said it, and I may probably, most likely, throw it in your face in the future.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sparks fly from the moment Caine and Grace meet. Though there is attraction, there is legitimate hatred between them, and we are treated to bickering, banter and a whole load of resentment. There\u2019s some great push and pull as they both fight their mad lust for each other, and soon all of that antagonism quickly turns into wild chemistry that will rock both of their worlds.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s lots of fun watching these two come together, and when they finally stop fighting their pull, it\u2019s hot and steamy, and feelings quickly follow. Caine is great as the smitten hero chasing after the woman he wants, and once they find their groove, the relationship feels so natural. But they can\u2019t let people at work know (except for Caine\u2019s hilarious younger brother Nash, who is a complete scene stealer), and Caine has to face Grace\u2019s uber-protective family.<\/p>\n

This is a quick and easy read. There\u2019s no real surprises, the drama is minimal, and though it feels a bit forced, it\u2019s resolved well. The characters seemed a bit OTT with their behaviour at times, but the romance is sweet and I enjoyed this one.<\/p>\n
