A standalone story with lots of heart, I loved this one.<\/p>\n Roman and Elora meet while they\u2019re both visiting a small coastal town. They have both been shattered by grief, and have left their lives behind as they try to deal with their losses. While Roman is dealing with the recent death of his brother, Elora is trying to move on after the death of her mother, and she\u2019s about to embark on a road trip to scatter her mother\u2019s ashes at special locations across the country. Both experiencing the same gutwrenching emotions, they form an unexpected connection, and when Roman invites himself along on Elora\u2019s road trip, their journey will change both of their lives forever.<\/p>\n He\u2019s just as lost as I am, maybe more so, and that makes me feel connected to him in some twisted way. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Though the book starts off with the characters in a dark place, making us feel their desperate sense of loss and loneliness, their trip together is one of healing as they come to terms with their losses and start to find happiness again. They grow close, leaning on each other to get them through such a difficult time, and they easily, naturally, and quite unexpectedly, fall for each other.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve given me more than you realize, Elora.\u201d He presses his lips against my ear and continues in a quiet whisper, \u201cAnd one part of that is a feeling of happiness that isn\u2019t mixed up with money or things. It\u2019s pure and good, and everything fucking <\/i>normal I didn\u2019t know I was missing out on until you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This is such a beautifully written story. There\u2019s so much emotion, and it\u2019s written in a way that is real, and respectful of the depth of emotion that the characters are experiencing. Their recovery is slow but realistic, and their support of each other through their healing is really sweet. In addition to their grief, Roman and Elora are also dealing with some complex family dynamics, which adds an extra layer of intensity to their story.<\/p>\n The romance is gorgeous. Roman and Elora are honest with each other, they don\u2019t hide anything, they are functional together, and their love story feels so real. They are there for each other, they care for and support each other, the feelings are heartfelt, passionate and intense, and I loved watching them fall so deeply in love.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m in love with you, Elora,\u201d he bites out, and my lips part in surprise. \u201cSo, you can have all the time you need to figure out what you want to do with your life, but you\u2019ll do it going to sleep next to me every night.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s a great journey, and there is some unexpected drama along the way, but I loved seeing these two stay strong, have each other\u2019s back\u2019s unquestionably, and figure out their future together sensibly, honestly, and without unnecessary angst.<\/p>\n Such a gorgeous read \u2013 4 stars.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.escapistbookblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/King-of-Nothing-Teaser-3.png?resize=433%2C433&ssl=1\")
