This is such a great read! An opposites-attract romance between an uptight, mostly emotionless publicist, and her billionaire playboy client. Smart and sexy with a slow burning romance and fantastic character development, I loved Sloane and Xavier\u2019s story.<\/p>\n

This is the fourth book in the Kings of Sin<\/i> series, taking place in the same world as the earlier books. Sloane is part of the best friend group of ladies from the other books in this series, and there is quite a lot of character crossover with both the boys and the girls \u2013 mostly superficial stuff, but awesome to see them just the same – but you could easily read this book as a standalone.<\/p>\n

Xavier is the only son of the wealthiest man in Colombia. He is set to inherit billions when he takes over the reins of the family empire, but he prefers life as a party boy, travelling from place to place, drinking and partying with his friends, and having as little to do with his mostly estranged father as possible. Sloane is Xavier\u2019s family\u2019s publicist, and Xavier is pretty much her full time job. She loathes him and the lazy, irresponsible life that he leads (and rightly so), and spends entirely too much of her time attempting to keep him out of trouble.<\/p>\n

Though they have an acrimonious relationship, you can tell there is attraction there \u2013 at least on Xavier\u2019s side, but Sloane keeps her emotions well locked up. She is business minded with no desire for a relationship. But when Xavier\u2019s life is upended and he\u2019s forced to enter the business world that he has avoided his whole life, Sloane is by his side. As he finally starts to show initiative and take responsibility for his life, she see a new side to him, and in return she opens up to him as well. They become closer and when he asks for a chance, she gives it to him, and we get to see the most beautifully swoony love story as Xavier goes all out to woo the one woman he\u2019s always wanted. It\u2019s sweet and romantic, and of course it\u2019s eventually sexy as hell, and I loved seeing these two together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want a kiss or a one-night stand,\u201d he said. \u201cI want you. I want to know you outside work. I want to take you on real dates. And I don\u2019t know if it\u2019ll work out in the end, but I want us to at least try.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s a bit of a reverse grumpy\/sunshine thing happening between them. Xavier is the fun, light-hearted one, whereas Sloane is serious, has been called an ice queen, and shows little emotion. But they balance each other out so well. She is there for him as he works to build a real, grown-up life for himself, and he loves her strength and fierceness, accepts the walls that she has up, but works hard to bring her out of her shell.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think you know me so well,\u201d I whispered, even though he was right.
\n\u201cOnly parts of you.\u201d The gentle brush of his thumb against my hand unlocked a colony of butterflies in my stomach. \u201cBut we\u2019ll get there.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Xavier is just gorgeous. He\u2019s beautifully patient with Sloane, and though he has his own pressures going on in his life and he\u2019s trying to prove himself and build his own career, he\u2019s there for her, he always makes time for her, and he goes out of his way for her so many times. These two respect one another, and despite their differences and their shaky beginning, they develop a beautifully functional relationship that is so gorgeous to see.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t run away from what could be because you\u2019re afraid of what might be.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But Sloane\u2019s walls are huge. She has some pretty significant family issues that have left their mark, and she knows that Xavier is a risk to her well-controlled emotions. She has her own soul searching to do as she figures out what she truly wants, and what she\u2019s capable of.<\/p>\n

These two both go through so much change in this book. They show so much strength and maturity in how they handle it all, how they help each other, and how they allow the other to be there for them. The love story blends so beautifully with all that\u2019s going on in their lives, and Ana Huang writes this story with humour and heart, and it\u2019s a gorgeous journey for both of these characters.<\/p>\n

This is a great addition to the series that cleverly lives up to its name. I loved seeing so many cameos from Ana\u2019s other books, and cannot wait to continue on with the mysterious Vuk up next.<\/p>\n

I loved it \u2013 4 stars.<\/p>\n
