I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Hunter\u2019s Elemental<\/i> Mysteries<\/em><\/a> series, so why, why, why did it take me so long to read this book! A paranormal \/ urban fantasy story with an exotic setting, great world building, fabulous characters and the most beautiful romance, this book held me captive from start to finish and I absolutely loved it!<\/p>\n

Ava has been plagued by voices in her head for her whole life, and despite seeing countless doctors, she has has never gotten any answers as to why or what is going on. She lives a nomadic life as a freelance travel photographer and is in Istanbul seeking out a doctor who may be able to help her. It\u2019s there that she meets Malachi, who she mistakenly thinks is a bodyguard hired by her wealthy step-father to watch over her. What he is, is an Irin Scribe. Descended from angels, he is super powerful and sworn to protect humanity from the offspring of fallen angels. As Malachi and Ava spend time together, attraction develops, and when Malachi recognises her powers, Ava gets drawn into a world she never knew existed, one where she is powerful and revered, and where her rare presence puts her in the crosshairs of the enemy.<\/p>\n

Ava knew. However it had happened, whatever strange twist of fate had caught her\u2026 these were her people. And however he tried to deny it, Malachi was hers, too.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s an exciting and intriguing ride, and Hunter has created a fabulous supernatural world which is well developed, interesting and unique. The magic system is great, the history is intriguing, and the good vs evil conflict brings excitement and action.<\/p>\n

And at the heart of this book is a love story that is sweet, passionate, and beautifully romantic. I wasn\u2019t expecting the romance to be prominent in this book, I don\u2019t know why, but I was thrilled to watch this one develop. I loved their friendship and honesty, their teasing, flirting and obvious chemistry, and as they fall effortlessly and hopelessly for each other, I found myself completely swept up in their love story.<\/p>\n

Ava knocked on his door. Malachi opened it, holding a towel. He’d showered, and a few drops of water still clung to his tanned shoulders. He wore a pair of loose pants and a guarded expression.
\n\u201cWhat do you want?\u201d
\n\u201cI kissed Rhys.\u201d
\nNow she knew she wasn’t imagining it. The tattoos pulsed silver in the dim light of the hall. Ava forced her eyes back to Malachi’s face which was locked down tight. Only a tic in his jaw told Ava her words have even been heard.
\nHis voice was low and thick with tension. \u201cGet that out of your system?\u201d
\n\u201cFelt a little like kissing my brother.\u201d
\nHe dropped the towel and tugged her into the room. \u201cThis won’t\u201d.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We get to meet Malachi\u2019s fellow scribes, and they are a great bunch. Their brotherhood is strong, and I already know there will books for some of them later in the series, and I\u2019m so excited to read more about them.<\/p>\n

The climax of the book brings some big twists, and it ends on a huge cliffhanger. I\u2019m diving straight into the next book and can\u2019t wait to see where the series goes from here.<\/p>\n

I loved everything about this one. 5 huge stars!<\/p>\n

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by the fabulous Zachary Webber, and he does an amazing job as always. I absolutely recommend listening to this one!<\/p>\n
