Wow, what a rollercoaster this story has been. Both an intense and passionate soulmate romance, and a well-developed and in-depth paranormal adventure with strong political themes, this a big story, and there\u2019s a lot going on in this book.<\/p>\n

This is the third book of The Irin Chronicles<\/i> series, the final book of Ava and Malachi\u2019s story, and it absolutely cannot be read as a standalone. We\u2019ve seen Ava and Malachi meet, fall in love, and face unimaginable trauma as Ava has been introduced to a world that she had no idea existed, and we\u2019re now ready to get answers and watch these two, and their friends, fight for their happy ending.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what happens, I will never be sorry I was given the time to love you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Malachi and Ava are recovering from the events of the previous book. They\u2019re together and they\u2019re committed, but they have so much to work through together, and still a lot of serious personal issues that they need to deal with. While they\u2019re doing that, fallen angels are returning, their enemies are closing in, and the return of the Irina threatens to destabilise the Irin world. Questions are answered and there are big secrets uncovered, and as it all builds to an exciting finale, Malachi and Ava need to confront the darkness and embrace their growing power to survive the big battle.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot that happens, a lot of new characters introduced, and a lot of information thrown at you in this book. I admit, there were parts that were a bit confusing trying to keep everything straight in my head. Most of the book is a slow build up with lots of talking, plotting and reveals, and it\u2019s not until the end that we get some action and even then, there\u2019s multiple perspectives which brings a chaotic feel. But overall, I did enjoy this story. I love seeing the changes in the world of the Irin, there are some fantastic moments of badassery, and Ava and Malachi, their strength and their love for each other, shine through it all.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am for Ava,\u2019\u201d he said quietly. \u201c\u2018For her\u2026 my hand and voice. For her, my body and mind. Her strength in weakness. Her sword in battle. Her balm in pain. I am hers. Hers to cherish. Hers to hold. Hers to command.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I finished this book feeling satisfied with the journey. The loose ends are tied up, or create a nice lead-in to the continuation of the series with books for some of the side characters. It\u2019s an enjoyable read, and though it didn\u2019t hold that epic feeling that I had from the first book in the series, I still loved this story, and I\u2019m really excited to continue on with the series.<\/p>\n

I listened to this as an audiobook, and like the earlier books, it\u2019s narrated by Zachary Webber. He does an amazing job with Ava and Malachi, but in this book he\u2019s amazing as he brings in so many different voices and accents for so many different side characters. He brought the story to life, and I loved listening to this one.<\/p>\n
