The sixth book in the Iron Outlaws MC: Colorado<\/i> series, this is an exciting, close proximity, forbidden romance that is sweet, sexy and super functional, and I really enjoyed this one!<\/p>\n

As a favour to the OG Iron Outlaws, the Colorado chapter has taken in Wren, a black hat hacker and friend of the club who is in hiding and needs to lay low. Catfish, Colorado MC treasurer and the man on watch when the club was hacked and money was stolen, is put in charge of protecting Wren, and they are moved into an apartment together with only one rule \u2013 Catfish is to keep his hands off. The problem is, he\u2019s been smitten from the moment he laid eyes on them.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great set-up, I loved how Catfish is immediately all in with Wren. There is an added complexity to the story because Wren is non-binary. It was a first for me, and the author, and though I know little about non-binary representation in literature, I thought Cole did a fantastic job with respectfully and meaningfully telling Wren\u2019s story. I have not really been exposed to the intricacies of gender and sexuality before, and I found their perspectives fascinating as we learned who they were and how they chose to live their life.<\/p>\n

Safe is finding someone to trust with your whole heart. Safe is a place, a home, that carries mostly good memories. Safe is feeling affirmed by friends as you are, with space held for who you need to become. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s an important part of their story, as Catfish works earnestly to understand Wren and what they need, but it\u2019s not a source of drama or conflict, as he accepts Wren without blinking an eye, he loves them as a person, and to him their gender is not even an issue, which I loved. And though important, and there is attention paid, Wren\u2019s gender doesn\u2019t overshadow the love story, which is easy and natural, steamy, heartfelt and swoony. And with Catfish wanting to understand and respect Wren\u2019s boundaries, there\u2019s a lot of openness and honesty, which I love in a romance book, as they figure out how to be together and what their future might look like.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know who I see. And I\u2019m just a guy trying to figure out if I\u2019m capable of being the man who deserves you, exactly as you are. How I need to change.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I fell for both of these characters and loved watching them fall so madly in love. The fact that it\u2019s forbidden brings a sense of \u2018us against the world\u2019 and shows just how much Catfish is willing to fight for Wren and their happy ending, and I loved that for both of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re mine, Wren. I want to take you apart like this every night. Want to spend every goddamn day building a life with you. Not what the world expects, but what we want to build. Just you and me.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While this is going on, they are still work to find out what happened to the club\u2019s money, who is after Wren, and avoid the persistent FBI who are searching for Wren and are getting closer and closer. It\u2019s intriguing (and tech-heavy because of Wren\u2019s skillset) and leads to an exciting ending.<\/p>\n

This is another great addition to the series. I loved seeing so much of all of the characters that we have come to know and love. The club is still learning how to come together after changes to their structure. But they\u2019re a fun group and there\u2019s no doubting that they have Catfish and Wren\u2019s backs through it all.<\/p>\n

The book ends well, and I really enjoyed this story.<\/p>\n
