4 stars!

Pulled is a second chance romance that is told in dual POVs. We get both sides of the story in the present as well as in flashbacks. We see the beginnings of first love blossoming into an all consuming love. Then tragedy strikes and after some major misunderstandings, these young lovers are separated for 9 years.

Melanie has been living the last 9 years in a loveless relationship, married to an asshole who brings her no happiness. She spends her days as a dutiful wife but we see the pain she feels while still grieving the loss of her first love.

I missed him, almost more than I could bear. This was never supposed to have happened to us. We were supposed to make it—we should have made it.

Daniel has also lived a lonely life since his heart was broken. He has spent most of his time working hard becoming a doctor and avoiding relationships. He, too, constantly thinks of his first love, knowing he will never love another like he loves her and is unable to move on.

Later I realized that I’d wanted to believe somebody else could make me feel the same way Melanie had, the complete ecstasy we felt when we were one. But that feeling could not be replicated. Melanie’s body fit mine as if we’d been carved from the same stone, each made for the other. She could not be replaced.

There has always been a pull between the two of them and when they see each other for the first time in 9 years the pull is stronger than ever. Saying Daniel and Melanie are shocked when they unexpectedly run into each other is an understatement.

My knees went weak, and I grasped the table for support when my eyes met with the emerald that owned my soul.

I couldn’t look away. Every emotion I’d had in the last nine years flowed between us—the pain, the longing, the desire, the lost love, each one crashing and washing over us in waves.

You can feel the love they both still have for each other and the pain of the separation they have been living through. Daniel immediately sees that she is not happily married like he led himself to believe and he knows he needs to get her back.

“I can’t live without you. I haven’t lived a day without you”

Daniel and Melanie struggle with their feelings while trying to figure out where they stand with the complications surrounding each other’s lives. Because of issues they have to deal with, they know that being together isn’t always going to be easy. It is heartbreaking when the truth comes out.

Spoiler
And they realize the years spent apart could have been avoided by just talking.

“Nine years, Daniel. Nine years, and now it’s too late.”

Pulled is an emotional book that will make your heart ache for the characters and have you rooting for them to succeed. By the end, your heart is full when they finally find their HEA.

Though I really enjoyed this book, I do think that Daniel and Melanie made some poor decisions and jumped to conclusions, leading to misunderstandings that could have been avoided. Some of the other characters actions did not sit well with me either but in the end the story is nicely wrapped up.
