4 romantically badass stars

The final book in the Chaos & Ruin series, this book brings the action, excitement and sexiness that I was expecting. But it also comes with beautiful romance and swoon that was unexpected but most welcome, and a happy ending for Zeth and Sloane that left me with a huge goofy grin on my face.

For such a short read, there’s a lot that happens in this book. Zeth is finally taking on the Barbieri crime family who destroyed his home and who want to take over Seattle. Though he’s always a man with a plan, his life is different now, with his girl by his side and a baby on the way, and he’s going to need to handle the situation differently from how he once might have. And then he learns that Sloane has been taken, creating his worst nightmare and putting him on the path of vengeance and destruction against a new, but not unknown, threat. Sloane is her own brand of badass and with the story told in dual POV we get to see all that these two go through in their attempts to come out of their ordeal alive and claim the happy ending that is so closely within their reach.

And meanwhile, secondary character Mason is lost in a world of grief, and it’s going to take something special to pull him out of his dangerous spiral.

“It’s okay for you to hate me. I’m strong. I can love you enough for the both of us until you’re ready to feel something else again.”

I loved that we got to see more of Mason, his story broke my heart but it was good to see him find some happy. But let’s be honest, it’s all about Zeth and Sloane, and their story is all kinds of intense and exciting, and I loved watching the twists and turns as it all played out. And every moment just proved to me once again why I love these characters so freaking much.

Zeth mother-f*ing Mayfair. He’s such an epic badass, and you’ve got to love a man who loves so fiercely. Their road wasn’t easy, and it’s taken a lot for Zeth to come to terms with all that he feels for Sloane but he’s at a place where he can openly embrace those emotions, and the woman that he now claims as his, and I freaking loved it!

She’s fierce. She’s determined. She’s strong. She’s brave as fuck. She is everything she needs to be in order to withstand being in love with a man like me, and I am eternally fucking grateful for that.

And in return, Sloane loves him just as fiercely. He is nothing like the kind of man she once expected to end up with, and despite their differences and Zeth’s viciousness, she loves him unreservedly. And why wouldn’t she?

The rain pelts our bodies, running down his face, soaking his hair, and he is fucking magnificent. The most beautiful, raw, magnificent man to ever walk this earth.

Seriously, this visual ^^^ (and that whole scene) just gives me goosebumps!

They are together, they are committed, and I loved seeing them so beautifully in love.

“Mother of my child,” he grinds out. “You’re the only woman in the world who could be this for me, Sloane. You’re the only woman alive who can possibly give me this. I fucking swear to god I’m going to make sure you get your happily ever after.”

The love story between Zeth and Sloane forms the backbone of this series, and it ties in to the action perfectly as they fight hard for each other, and their future. It’s dark, violent, raw and sexy (SO sexy), and I thought this was a fantastic ending to the series. And that epilogue was just perfection and had me close to happy tears.

A great read – 4 stars.
