Blurb

I was called a prodigal son.

A scion of Midas.

I believed it. Why wouldn’t I?

Everything my father touched turned to gold.

The proof was all around me.

Luxury cars.

Elite schools.

A billion-dollar business.

Even my girlfriend, a Park Avenue Princess.

I reigned from a throne of lies.

My fall from grace . . . wasn’t graceful at all.

4 stars!

This short novella is the introductory story to Legacy of Lies. It’s a beautifully sweet and heartfelt YA romance between two privileged young teens on the New York social scene.

Jolie Chapman is about to make her social debut. She honestly couldn’t care less, but when her father matches her up with his business partner’s son as an escort for the debutante’s ball, she meets Remington Montgomery III, or Tripp, who is equally as uninterested in being there. But everything changes from their first glance at each other.

From that first moment there is a spark, and we get to watch as Jolie and Tripp get to know each other and easily, honestly and oh-so-naturally fall into first, intense, all-consuming love. Their connection is deep and true and they want nothing more than a future together, and their love for each other shines through each and every moment.

“I love you, Jolie. And that’s never going to change. Not today, and not tomorrow. Not ever.”

But then their lives fall apart. Everything they thought they knew is tested, and they are torn apart in the most tragic of circumstances, setting the scene for the epic second-chance-romance to come in the next book.

God, I wished I could take away her pain. Our pain.
I couldn’t. But I could give her forever.
And I would.

I really enjoyed this read, and I love that Leigh decided to give us so much detail before we head into the next book. Often in second-chance-romances we just get glimpses of the past, but here we have a fully-rounded story, and I already feel so much for these characters and their beautiful love story. And after that shocking ending, I can’t wait to see where the story is going to go from here.

4 stars.
