4 stars!

Another fun, sexy and entertaining read from Whitney G. This time an enemies-to-lovers romance with the billionaire boss from hell.

Tara is a college graduate struggling to make it in NYC. She’s applying for job after job and not having any luck, and is doing what she needs to get by. That includes helping herself to free-to-guest hotel breakfasts at an exclusive hotel chain. It’s a plot that works well for her… until she gets caught by none other than the CEO of the luxury hotel chain, billionaire Preston Parker. She fears the worst but Parker seems something in her and, struggling to find an Executive Assistant that can put up with his exasperating needs, he offers her a job. But neither of them have any clue what they’re in for.

I’d just signed on to work with the cockiest asshole in all of New York City.

Preston is an OTT demanding boss (think Meryl Street in The Devil Wears Prada and then some!). He’s an asshole, pure and simple, but Tara is desperate for the money and the experience that working for Preston will bring, so she is determined to stick it out. And, much to Preston’s surprise, she actually does a great job. But how long will she be able to put up with his ridiculous demands – especially when it means that she has no time for a life of her own – and how long can the two of them resist the attraction that sizzles between them.

I shouldn’t have hired her… I’d never been this attracted to a woman after a first encounter in my life.

The timeline skips over the months and years of Tara and Preston working together. We see the fantastic bantering, backchatting and arguments that embody their relationship, as well as the wonderful partnership they have developed. But when Tara decides that enough is enough and she needs to get out… Preston is in no way prepared to let her go.

I hadn’t fucked another woman since we met because no other woman compared.

Being a Whitney G. book, I was expecting a whole lot of sexy time, but this book is more about the slow burning build-up, which I really enjoyed. It takes time for the epic chemistry to develop, so that when they finally do act on it, it’s explosive! And though they may deny it, their emotional connection is just gorgeous. There are some great twists that I didn’t see coming which shift things up a bit and bring a lot of heart to the book, and I really like the direction that the story went in.

“You were my right hand, my confidant… my everything

It’s a quick read, but an enjoyable one, with lots of laugh-out-loud scenes, sweet moments and, eventually, a sexy, heartfelt romance.

I loved it! 4 stars.

Note – I listened to this as an audiobook. Narrated by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden, it’s well worth a listen!
