4.5 stars!

I can’t believe it took me so long to read this book! I read the first book in this series years ago, and then (as tends to happen), it completely slipped off my radar. Well, it’s firmly back on the TBR now, and this book did a wonderful job of sucking me in with an emotional, all-consuming and beautiful NA romance with all the feels. I couldn’t put it down, and I absolutely loved it!

This is the second book in the Ivy Years series, the story of Bridger and Scarlett. Two people who are hiding big secrets, but who find something amazing together.

Bridger is working hard to keep his life together – after spending the last year as a partying playboy, he is now completely devoted to studying, working, and hiding his 8 year old little sister in his dorm room after their mother completely checked out. He has cared for little Lucy for most of her life, and he’ll do anything for her, and oh, my heart, he is just gorgeous!

Scarlett is new to Harkness College, she’s also new to being Scarlett. After a scandal completely ruined her family, she is wanting to distance herself from the hell she left behind and start again, and freshman year at a new college with a new identity is just the way to do it.

Bridget and Scarlett develop a fast friendship when they meet in class. Over classes, lunch dates and fantastically fun banter, that friendship slowly becomes more as they effortlessly fall for each other, and it was so, so beautiful watching it happen! It’s easy, sweet, and heart-meltingly gorgeous with no stupid behaviour or game playing, and I was all swoony over the two of them together.

But the secrets they are keeping bring drama, and they have some pretty big hurdles to overcome. It’s beautifully written, bringing so much emotion, and I was captivated as they face up to issues they should never have to deal with. But they do it with bravery, strength and so much heart, I could empathise with all that they were going through, and I rejoiced as they overcame and found their much-deserved happiness.

I loved this book. A fantastic NA read with characters and a romance that completely stole my heart.
