4 stars

This is a great little bonus for fans of The Walshes series. A novella for the couple that started it all – Matt and Lauren – set three months after the birth of their first baby.

This book contains the Underneath It All (Matt and Lauren) novella featuring Six Years Later, the happy-ever-after novella originally published in The Walsh Brothers plus the Jenga, Cookies, and Cocktails novella originally available only to Kate Canterbary’s newsletter subscribers, and several additional bonus scenes.

Matt and Lauren’s connection was clear from the moment they met, and that has only intensified in the years that they’ve been together. But since they bought their baby girl home, they have struggled to reconnect in the way that means so much to them both.

We loved each other more than I thought possible. It was more intense than ever but it was an intensity founded in distance. We gazed at each other from across the room in awe, as if to say, Look what we made. Look what we have. Look what we are. Look at where we are now.

This was a new era for our relationship and I wasn’t the only one stumbling through it.

It’s a situation that so many new parents have to deal with, and I loved watching Matt and Lauren face those difficulties and find their way forward, and back to themselves

I was a mother and a wife and woman, and I could be all of those. I wasn’t limited to one.

In addition to the Matt and Lauren novella, this collection also contains some deleted scenes from the Walsh Family Vault, and as a mad fan of the series, I was thrilled to catch up with the characters that I love so much.

If you haven’t read this series – seriously, get onto it. Funny, sexy, emotional and romantic with some of the best family dynamics I’ve read, it’s a must-read for contemporary romance fans. And with this series spawning so many of Canterbary’s other books, it’s the best starting point to dive into this author’s work.

I loved it. 4 stars.
