Blurb

Skye McLane is Hollywood’s newest It Girl. Between the film offers flying in and the ever-present awards buzz around her, Skye seems to have everything, until pictures of her heartthrob boyfriend cheating on her are splashed all over the internet. Heartbroken, Skye just wants to focus on her work and lick her wounds in private, but her publicist has another plan.

His name is River Holloway.

River’s a rising star with a penchant for finding trouble wherever he goes. He has a new movie coming out and some career-making deals in the works, but River’s getting the wrong kind of attention after a couple of fights captured by the paparazzi. What he needs is an image rehab, and his publicist thinks Skye is just the girl who can give it to him.

America’s newest sweetheart and a bad boy in need of a little TLC seems like the perfect recipe for some positive press. It’s strictly a showmance with a pre-determined expiration date, until a trip to a tropical paradise leaves them shipwrecked, and their time alone together makes them realize that their feelings might not be for show after all…

4 stars!

This is such a cute read! A short, sweet and sexy celebrity romance with a fake-relationship set-up, I really enjoyed this one!

Up and coming actress Skye McLane has recently been spectacularly dumped by her actor boyfriend, whose is happily flaunting his new love for the whole world to see. Worried that all of the attention is making Skye look pathetically jilted, her agent has the idea to hook her up with another actor whose own reputation isn’t looking too good.

“I want to set you up with one of Keith’s clients. He has a tendency to get in bar fights, and you have a tendency to go on sad little ice cream dates with your friends.”

And so, Skye is hooked up with River, a fellow newbie actor, and they agree to a short-term ‘showmance’ to give them some positive publicity before they go their own ways. They are both fully on board with the plan, and they eagerly throw themselves into becoming a part of each other’s lives.

“So, I keep you out of bar fights, and–”
“I fake love you so thoroughly that women want to be you.”

And so, through film premieres, staged dates and not-so-secret photo ops, their PDA-filled love is broadcast to the world, all the while, they are quietly falling for each other. But it’s during a planned romantic getaway where things get really interesting, and when the two of them are stranded on a remote tropical island, everything is about to change.

“Skye McLane,” he says reverently, curling an errant lock of my hair around his finger. His face is all happy and flushed. “I think I could fall in love with you.”

These two are so freaking cute! They laugh and have fun together, they talk openly, and they develop a true friendship that is simmering with attraction from the very beginning. The real flirtation is just gorgeous, and the chemistry between them sizzles, and I was feeling everything right along with them.

It’s a super short read, like it only took me an hour or so to read it, but Cross manages to bring that wonderful sense of anticipation and excitement that I love about romance. The story ends in a great place, providing very satisfying closure, and I really enjoyed this one.

4 stars!
