“This was a high worth chasing. He was a risk worth taking.”

5 stars!

The third and final book in the Renegades series, this is an emotional and heart-pounding forbidden romance as Penna – aka Rebel – falls in love for the first time… with her professor. It’s dramatic, exciting and full of feels, and I was completely hooked and right on board for this final wild ride.

Penna is the fierce, bold and proud female founder of the group of extreme athletes, along with her best friends Wilder and Landon, the heroes from the previous books. Events that occurred previously in the series left her reeling from injury and betrayal, and she has lost herself in her grief and pain. Trying to find her way back to her wild self, she plans a secret stunt to test herself, and just happens to rope in a gorgeous guy that she meets in a bar who is all too happy to join her for a moment of wildness. It turns into a night neither of them will ever forget, before they go their separate ways. Until Cruz Delgado shows up on Penna’s study-abroad cruise as her new professor.

The intensity is there right from the beginning of this story. You can feel the attraction and the longing between Cruz and Penna. They don’t deny it, they admit outright that the feelings are there, but they know they can’t act on it and they try their best to keep their distance. But their chemistry is too strong to ignore.

This was dangerous. We both knew it, and yet here we were again. Magnets. Gravity. Chemical reactions. Whatever.

OMG the feels! Cruz and Penna are both sensible and mature. They know the rules, they know the risks, but they also know that what they are feeling is something special that has the potential to be everything. It’s all so intense and they soon embark on a secret, forbidden relationship that is beautiful, passionate and honest, and I fell in mad love right along with them.

“So, you and me?” I asked softly.
“You and me,” he agreed, taking my lips in a deep, soul-reaching kiss.
“It’s not going to be easy.”
“Nothing worth it ever is.”

“I’d rather have these stolen moments with you than have a normal relationship with anyone else.”

I love these two together so much. They’re so open and honest, their chemistry is insane, and they just fit. They’re so right together in every way, and seeing them together is so special.

“I’m not a normal girl, and I know that. But I think that you’re the only man strong enough to handle every facet of the woman I am. You’re everything I want, everything I need, and I just want the chance to be what you need, too.”

“You challenge every belief I’ve ever held about relationships, and I have a feeling you’ll keep that up, which I am more than fine with. I’m not an easy man, and you’re anything but an easy woman, but together we are effortless, because I can’t imagine any other possibility.”

Running alongside the romance, as the cruise works its way around South America, Penna is slowly finding her way forward again, and with Cruz by her side as the assigned staff ‘supervisor’ of the Renegades, her confidence grows and she finds her happy again, and it was so beautiful to see.

“God, I love this feeling,” she whispered, as if she hadn’t meant to say the thought aloud.
“The rush?” I guessed.
“The anticipation. The war that silently rages in my body between what I want it to do and what it knows isn’t safe. The way my stomach tightens and my heart starts to race. The moment the decision is still mine.”
I knew the exact moment she was describing because I’d lived it – I was in it now. It was the moment you stood on the edge of epic and decided to topple over.

All the while, we know the inevitable is coming. My heart was pounding, and I swear to God, I felt physically sick just waiting for the bomb to drop. The feels! And adding to the intensity, Cruz has a secret, one that pulls on the heartstrings and ties into the story so well, and the storylines build to a super-exciting ending that made my heart pound, and had me desperate to know how it was all going to play out.

Characters from the previous book are all there for the unfolding drama, and I loved seeing them again. We get to see more of Nick, too, and his journey in this book absolutely warmed my heart. Witnessing how this group have each other’s backs without question is so gorgeous, they have truly formed a family, and watching the boys, and their girlfriends, be there for Penna was a really special part of the book.

This story is so well written, and I was feeling everything with the characters. I was so invested in them and their story, and I couldn’t put the book down! The ending was everything I was hoping for, and there is an epilogue which finishes off Cruz and Penna’s story beautifully, and that also provides us with a glimpse into the future for all of the Renegades. I finished this one totally blissed out and with a massive smile on my face.

So much love for this book!
