Mark Carrington already broke my heart once.

This sexy, temperamental playboy might dominate the major leagues, but there’s no way in hell I’m letting him play ball with my heart again.

Until I find myself facing him down every morning on our new radio show, and his undeniable hotness starts to break down my resistance–and almost erase all the memories of how he dumped me back in high school.

We’ve both grown up since then, and now Mark is even more gorgeous and infuriating than ever. But I can’t get away from him–not when my beloved alternative rock station depends on his sexy ass to avoid getting bought out by a greedy corporation.

But when he corners me in the production room to compliment my sexy radio voice and admire my David Bowie T-shirt, it’s all I can do to keep my clothes on and my hands off of him. So I don’t.

And the more I get to know him, the more I realize he’s hiding a big heart behind all that swagger. And the deeper we get, the deeper I fall.

3.5 stars!

Rose Taylor runs the W-ALT radio station and a major issue with one of the DJs has landed them in a heap of trouble. The station owner wants to change things up and bring in another person for a new morning segment to up the station’s ratings. Enter “The Bad Boy at Bat. American All-Star. Super Slugger. Mr. Mark Carrington.”

Mark is a hot, sexy baseball player who is constantly in the spotlight. It’s no surprise that the world finds out about a fight between him and another player when there are cameras constantly in their faces. He’s in hot water and his manager gives him an ultimatum – it’s his way or the highway, and so Mark agrees to do anything to help clean up his image.

Now, Mark is scheduled to co-host a morning sports show with Rose as part of the agreement and he is not too thrilled about it. Mark and Rose have a past that makes for an awkward reunion. Once upon a time they had a thing but their relationship ended poorly and left Rose with a broken heart. They end up being a fantastic pair co-hosting the sports segment and quickly both Rose and Mark are in the spotlight. Her wild side is brought out and soon there is so much sexual tension, you are just waiting for it to explode. While some things seem to fall into place, others start falling apart. Will they be able to work out their differences and find closure, or will everything combust?

Talk Dirty to Me is a sweet, sexy, enjoyable second-chance romance. I liked the chemistry between Rose and Mark. You can tell they were both burned in the past, by each other no less, but I could feel the pull that still tethered them together. The sexual tension is cranked up and it doesn’t take long before these two can’t keep their hands off each other. I felt their attraction and desperation for each other.  There are challenges though that make having any sort of relationship difficult and I loved watching them work through them, learning to trust and forgive.

I liked that there was more to Rose and Mark’s characters than what you first think. On the outside they act as though they are over each other, but you can feel the turmoil in their hearts. Neither want to admit that they are still attracted to each other and they try hard to fight the connection.  There are hidden things going on in their lives and not everything is as it seems. Mark has demons he’s fighting and I loved watching him overcome them. He is sexy, charming, and a great guy. He had his issues but I loved that he didn’t make excuses for them. Rose was a fun character and I loved her passion for the music. She was unique and knew what she wanted to do with her life. She had her struggles too and I felt them right along with her.

I was very curious to see what really happened in the past because both felt that the other did the heartbreaking. Though it is touched on, we don’t really get either side of what really went down that night in high school and I wished we did. I think it would have given me a better picture of them as teenagers, the pain they felt, and the closure for their past mistakes. I did love the flashbacks but I still wanted more.

There was some drama that could have been avoided if the characters thought before they acted but in the end it turned out alright. Both Mark and Rose were a bit quick to react to certain situations and I liked watching the characters grow and realize their mistakes. I do think the ending wrapped up too quickly and a bit too neatly though.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Lulu Wright.
