HOLY FREAKING AWESOME!

I can’t even put into words how amazing this book is. And it’s a novella! 105 pages of pure win! And I can honestly say that I adored every single page. It was sweet, hilariously funny, romantic and emotional. And it all blends together perfectly.

This is the story of Daniel and Six. The respective best friends of Holder and Sky from Hopeless and Losing Hope, and I would suggest reading those books first so you know who the characters are.

The ‘wow’ factor is there from the very beginning, and by the end of the prologue I was stunned speechless and madly in love with Daniel. He is hilariously sarcastic and rarely serious, and the whole book is from his POV, which adds to the awesome of the story because he is a fantastic narrator.

“She looks like a fucking angel. I don’t even know if people should use the words fucking and angel in the same thought structure, but shit. She really looks like a fucking angel.

He and Six have an incredible bond and I loved watching them together. The banter is fantastic, and they are both freaking hilarious! I laughed so hard pretty much the whole way through.

“Are you going to tell me how awesome that kiss was or are you going to ignore it?”
She shakes her head and laughs at me. “That wasn’t even a real kiss,” she says. “You didn’t even try to put your tongue in my mouth.”
… “I didn’t have to put my tongue in your mouth,” I say. “My kisses are that intense. I don’t even really have to do anything. The only reason I pulled back was that I was sure we were about to experience a classic, ‘When Harry met Sally’ moment.”

And they are both so upfront and honest with each other. There’s no game playing, no stupid, just them being completely open in a way that’s entirely theirs and it’s sensational!

“I’ve never had a boyfriend before. I don’t know how this works. Do people become exclusive this fast? Are we supposed to pretend we’re not that interested for a few more dates?”
Oh, dear God.
I’ve never been turned on by a girl laying claim to me before. I usually run in the other direction. She’s obliterating every single thing I thought I knew about myself with every new sentence that passes those lips.
“I have no interest in faking disinterest,” I say. “If you want to call yourself my girlfriend half as much as I wish you would, then it would save me a whole lot of begging. Because I was literally about to drop to my knees and beg you.”
She squints her eyes playfully. “No begging. It screams desperation.”
“You make me desperate,” I say, pressing my lips to hers again.

And, of course, the romance is gorgeous.

“I lean my head back and close my eyes, attempting to figure out where I went right in my life to deserve her”.

“It blows my mind that I get to love you.”

It may be only 100 pages, but Colleen managed to put so much heart into this story. I laughed, I squeed, I swooned, and I even cried. Daniel and Six’s story is incredibly special, and a must read for fans of the Hopeless series. I can only hope we get more of them at some stage in the (very near) future. Oh, and yes, we get to see a fair bit of Sky and Holder, and even Breckin, and it’s perfect 🙂

Colleen Hoover – you absolutely own me!
