Review

Oh Iris, you are an enigma!

Picking up two months after the ending of The Wild Side, this book finds Dair in a much better place personally, with him now actually leaving the house and starting to regain a social life, but he is still haunted by the memory of Iris, the girl who turned him inside out only to up and disappear on him.

Well, she’s back, and can I just say… WTF is going on? Mysterious and secretive from the very start, I was hoping to get some answers in this one at least some backstory on our mysterious heroine, but instead I have even more questions! Things are hinted at, and there’s a definite direction we’re heading in, but it seems a lot more intense than what I was anticipating, with a hint of danger to it, and my head is spinning with theories!

Iris is torn between her life and her desire to be with Dair, and even though she still tells him nothing about herself, she opens up to him the only way she can, and the sex is still downright scorching! The need these two have for each other is almost obsessive, and the sexual chemistry is absolutely mindblowing. There is so much sex in this book, and it’s hot, explicit, and of the anything-goes variety.

“I don’t have good judgement when it comes to you,” …
“Maybe good judgement is overrated. Maybe it’s time for you to be
bad.”

But as much as Dair wants Iris, her secrets continue to come between them as he struggles to determine what is truth and what is lies. And as he continues to fall for her, how can he trust that what he is feeling is real and reciprocated, or is it all just about the sex? And when he begins to uncover the depth of her deception, and a hint at what is behind it, I started to feel that I was reading something that was more than just erotica – there is a true connection here, and despite all that is standing in their way, they have truly fallen for each other.

“I want to help you,” I rasped. “Please , I need to save you from whatever it is you’re running from.
Her voice was unsteady, but her arms weren’t. They were wrapped around me like she was holding on for dear life. “You’ve already saved me, Dair. More than you’ll ever know.”

RK Lilley has once again delivered a short, sexy and fast-paced story that sucked me in from the beginning, leaving us with yet another crazy cliffhanger that will have me reaching for the next book very soon. Fans of her other series will be excited by a little cameo from Frankie and Estella, and a part of the action takes place in the Cavendish Resort – although with no sight of the man himself. I’m looking forward to seeing what she has in store for the big finish.

4 sexy stars.
