This series is a favourite for both of us and is one that, once we started, neither of us were able to put down.

Some Kind of Perfect will be the epilogue of this epic series, and is a full-length epilogue novel which spans the 10 year gap from the end of Long Way Down to LWD’s epilogue. Read Lily, Loren, Ryke, Daisy, Connor and Rose’s POV for the last time!!

Series Review

(Review originally posted on No BS Book Reviews)

The series starts out with Lily and Lo – Lily is a sex addict, Loren (Lo) is an alcoholic. Best friends since childhood, their struggle with their addictions and their shift from friends to lovers is a beautifully emotional story, and forms the basis for the rest of the series. For me, the first couple of books were quite heavy and dramatic, but the introduction of all of the other characters and the continuation of the story of the six of them together morphed the series into something incredible, and I cannot get enough of it!

There’s not one specific storyline that runs through the books, but rather there are a series of plotlines unfolding as we follow the journey of the six central characters – Lily, Lo, Connor, Rose, Ryke and Daisy – as they grow up (the first books are set in the College years), fall in love, and experience the ups and downs of their lives. They each have their own demons to face, but despite the fact that they are from wealthy families and their lives are incredibly public (adding a lot of intensity to everything that unfolds and creating a whole new layer of drama), they are each determined to live their lives on their own terms.

This is an absolutely phenomenal group of characters! They each have their quirks, but they honestly have some of the BEST character dynamics I have ever read! Individually they are all amazing, but throw them all together, and they banter and bounce off each other brilliantly! You wouldn’t expect them to be close, but family ties, love, and the fact that they genuinely care for each other keeps them together – even though they fight and bicker like teenagers. And whether they are in a group situation or one on one, it’s absolutely magic.

“We’ve become something of a family.
A dysfunctional, fucked up family.”

There are a lot of serious issues dealt with throughout the series, and of course there are some deep and meaningful moments, but it’s not all drama all the time. These books are rude and crude, there’s a whole heap of swearing, lots of sex (and talk of sex), light, fun moments and incredible romance, and the banter is sensational. Seriously – nothing is off limits with this group, and so many times I have read with my hand over my mouth laughing in shock and thinking ‘OMG, they did not just say that!!!’. And the beauty of the writing is that the small encounters that happen in their daily life are just as sensational as the big, emotional, life changing moments. It all unfolds perfectly, and it’s all completely mesmerising.

Each of the books have taken me on an absolute rollercoaster of emotions – I laughed, I cried, I got angry and uncomfortable, I was fanning myself at the hotness and swooning like an idiot at the epicness of the romance. I felt everything! And when I say I laughed and cried, I mean that my sides hurt from laughing so hard, and then only a few chapters later my heart would be breaking with tears streaming down my face, only to then be so happy that my heart was bursting with it, again with tears streaming down my face. Yep, those Ritchie sisters can make me feel, and they make me feel HARD! And I wouldn’t want it any other way!

The books are each told in dual H/h POV of one of the couples, but feature all of the characters. Some of the books are officially called ‘companion novels’, but we think they are definitely a must-read, and with the addition of the Calloway Sisters books intermingled into The Addicted books, the reading order isn’t always clear.  But the series is one continuous story – with the Calloway Sisters books providing a shift of protagonist – so we want to reinforce that you MUST read these books in the following order to experience this series as it was intended.  From start to finish it’s an incredible read!
