This is the third and final book in the Happy Crazy Love series. I love these books! Fun, romantic, sup sexy and with a lot of heart, each of them are great reads. While they can be read as standalones, I recommend reading them in order to fully appreciate the characters, their dynamics, and the relationships that continue to build in each book.

Jillian is the eldest of the Nixon sisters, and I really love her. Smart, sensible, and instantly relatable, she is now 30 years old, has worked hard to get through medical school and is now a successful paediatrician, but she wants more – she wants the kind of love that her sisters have found.

Ah, wine. Wine was my friend. Wine understood me. Wine knew that it was entirely possible to be one hundred percent happy for your sisters and also ten percent jealous, because Wine does not care about mathematics.

It’s not like they were handing out soul mates at the deli counter. I’ll take one tall, dark, and handsome with a steady job and a good sense of humor—oh, not the six-inch, the footlong. Thanks.

She is at her sister’s wedding when she runs into Levi Brooks – her one and only one night stand, and the man who, with one glace, still has the power to make her heart pound and her knees weak. With easy conversation and mild flirting, it becomes clear that the attraction goes both ways. Levi is just as keen to ‘reconnect’ with Jillian as she is with him, but his life is complicated now. He is a single father to a special needs son, and for the last 9 years his son has been his whole life, but there’s something about Jillian that makes him want more.

It was so different with Jillian. I wanted her to need me for more than just sex. I wanted to make her happy, and not just physically. I wanted to do things for her and with her. I wanted her in my life.

I love these two together! Neither of them hold back their attraction, being open and honest with each other from the very start about what they want. Their flirting and banter is HOT, and full of insanely dirty talk, and when they finally manage to get together, the sexy time is explosive! But as much as they both want to dive into a full-on relationship, Levi’s son is his first priority, and he doesn’t know how to make a relationship work when he has so much else going on in his life.

I loved that he was being honest with me and not trying to string me along just because the sex was good. I loved his sense of humor and his dirty mouth and his concern about being a gentleman. And maybe it was superficial or sexist, but I loved how tall he was and the way he carried me around and took command of my body—it made me feel beautiful and feminine and cherished. And I loved the way he loved his son with all his heart—even if it meant there was less of it for me.

Jillian is so understanding of Levi. She wants him and cares for him so deeply that she’s prepared to take what she can get from him. But as they fall in love, they very quickly realise that what they have is the real deal, and their stolen moments together are no longer enough. How long will Jillian be able to put up with only having half of the man that she loves? And can Levi find the balance to his life that he so desperately needs?

Resting my forehead on hers, I whispered her name like a prayer, desperately wishing I could have this, have her, every single day of my life.
But something inside me wouldn’t believe it was possible.

I really enjoyed this book. Jillian and Levi are fantastic characters, and though their relationship moves quickly, it was believable, and I loved the combination of epically hot, dirty-talking sex (*fans self* phew!) and emotion as they poured their hearts out to each other. Their honesty and openness about their feelings for each other is absolutely beautiful, and though they have struggles to overcome, their journey to find their HEA, and the way their story played out was really nicely done.

I loved the inclusion of Levi’s son, Scotty into the story. The relationship between father and son is beautifully explored, and Levi’s challenges with him are really well written.

I also loved how much Skylar & Sebastian, and Natalie & Miles were a part of the story. There is some fantastic progression for both couples, and I love how involved they all are in each other’s lives. Their support and love for each other is evident, and the dynamics between the growing group were gorgeous to see.

I have really enjoyed this series. I’ve listened to all three books back to back, and that’s very rare for me. I’m usually a reader that breaks up a series, but I couldn’t get enough of these books, and I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever Melanie writes next.

4 stars.
