The Midnight Breed is a one of my favourite vampire series.  Centered around the group of vampires that make up The Order, an elite group of Breed (vampire) Warriors.

The early books have a Black Dagger Brotherhood feel to them, but by book 3 this series develops its own feel and really hits its stride, bringing us action-packed stories which are full of excitement, drama and intense, passionate romance.  Oh yeah!

The story up to book 10 is one huge arc that builds brilliantly to an epic conclusion.  Book 11 then sees a huge shift in the series as it jumps forward in time and we start to get the stories of the children of the characters from the earlier books – all dealing with the fallout of events from earlier in the series.  New characters are also introduced, and it has a ‘phase 2’ sort of feel to it that does a wonderful job of broadening the world, while still keeping to the same formula, and allowing us a chance to catch up with the characters that we originally fell in love with.

Each book has its own individual story, but there are a number of arcs that cross multiple books, with the world continuing to develop as the series goes on, be sure to read them all in order!  The series is now complete.
