4 stars!

Romantic, refreshing, and fun, Being Brooke by Emma Hart was just what I wanted from a best friends-to-lovers story. Highly entertaining and hilarious, you won’t be able to put this one down.

Brooke and Cain have been best friends for ten years. Ten long years because Brooke has had it bad for Cain the entire time! She has tried to date but in the end every man is compared to Cain and she has no intention of settling.

I don’t want a perfectly nice guy.
I want someone who sets my soul on fire.

And you guessed it, Cain does just that. They have never crossed the line though and while Brooke’s love life is constantly lacking, Cain is always attached to someone. Even though everyone knows about Brooke’s unrequited love, Cain seems to be as oblivious as can be.

When Cain’s love life goes up in smoke, it might just be the time for Brooke to let her true feelings show. What happens when Cain and Brooke venture into a relationship that, if it is anything like Brooke’s hot mess of a life, is bound to be bumpy from the get go?

This is why you should never fall in love with your best friend. This moment right here. The lingering cloud of something that felt so right unraveling right before your eyes.
And not just a kiss.
Perhaps an entire friendship too.

This story is hilarious and heart warming. It flowed well and I loved how it was written, including the tips at the beginning of each chapter that made me instantly giggle.

I really like Brooke. She is a great friend and loyal to those she loves. She is clumsy, sassy, and a total hoot. I love her inner voice and the things that come out of her mouth are hilarious. Her stream of consciousness is all over the place and so entertaining. She is fun and goofy and an absolute riot when it comes to Cain. I love her sarcasm and dramatic flare.

Holy shit. Someone radio Houston because we have a problem. A big problem. And it’s poking into my lower back right now.

Cain is wonderful. He’s sweet, funny, and oh so sexy. It’s no wonder Brooke wants to take a ride on the “Cainmobile”. I love his protective streak and that he has no problem sticking up for Brooke. He is amazing, understanding, and loyal.

“Hot Mess…Maybe I don’t want it to be the same as it has been. Maybe I want a new normal.”
“And when it goes wrong?”
“Who says it’ll go wrong?”
I raise my eyebrows. “Cain, it’s me. Of course it’s going well go wrong. I’m a disaster of epic proportions. Hell, you actually call me Hot Mess. That’s pretty damning.”
“Yeah, but if we try a new normal, you won’t be just a hot mess. You’d be my hot mess.”

Cain and Brooke are great together. They have an easy relationship even when it’s sometimes awkward and they know each other so well they can almost tell what the other is thinking, except of course when it comes to their feeling toward the other. Every antic and situation is amusing and even the more serious scenes had humor to them.

Carly is a fun addition to the story. Bossy and one to tell it as it is, I love that she calls Brooke and Cain out on the BS surrounding their situation. Her loyalty and support is wonderful and I would love to see more of her.

Overall, I loved this story and the sweet epilogue left me with a smile on my face!
