Yeah, yeah, the Sinners are back!!! And God, I’ve missed these boys!!

Book 3 in the Sinners On Tour series belongs to Sinners’ bassist, Jace Seymour. Always the mysterious and quiet member of the band, Jace is hiding some massive traumas from his past. Believing that it’s best just to keep it all in, and shut everybody else out, he seeks to deal with his emotional issues through physical pain, and hires the services of professional Domme, Aggie, to give him an outlet.

“He leaned toward her. Wanting to touch her. Taste her. Experience everything she was. But mostly, he wanted her to beat the ever-loving shit out of him.”

Whoa! Olivia Cunnings does not hold back when dealing with these scenes. There’s a lot of graphic S&M stuff, and I’ve gotta say that it did weird me out a bit. But as the book went on, I came to understand Jace’s reasoning for needing that like he did. Although some of Aggie’s actions were a little bit weird – I felt that the lines between her and her Domme persona were sometimes blurred, and I was never too sure exactly which of her personalities we were dealing with. This was obviously reflective of what Jace needed from her – both the hard stuff, and the soft, caring stuff but (granted, I’m no expert), I wasn’t entirely comfortable with how she blended the two.

Things between Jace and Aggie get hot and heavy really quickly, and OMG, those scenes are HOT, HOT, HOT!!! And somewhat heavy on the kink. My kindle was steaming! But the chemistry soon develops into a deeper, more emotional relationship (still with all the sex though), and this is where we get the main focus on the story. Jace’s childhood trauma, how that has made him the person he is, and how Aggie draws him out and helps him to deal with it all and move on.

Aggie is a great character. She has some issues of her own, but she’s stronger, and more confident because of that, and she has a great ‘don’t mess with me’, ‘take responsibility and get on with it’ attitude.

“She wasn’t going to let him brush her off. If she had to do the pursuing, so be it. She’d always gone after what she wanted in life. And she wanted Jace Seymour.”

And Jace… aaaahhhhh, Jace…. He is the kind of guy that you just want to hug. Gorgeously sexy rock star with an edge, but underneath he is totally vulnerable and hurting – “Are you going to leave me after you fix me?” *sniff*. His backstory is absolutely horrific, and my heart broke for all that he had been through, and how he dealt with it all, but I love that he put his trust in Aggie, and started to open up to her. And watching him fall for her, even though he has no clue what he is feeling, is gorgeous. He undergoes some massive character development throughout the story, and I loved watching him turn into a swoonily romantic hero.

“This is my fault. If you’d never met me, this wouldn’t have happened.”
“If I’d never met you, I would never gotten to hold you. I’ll take the bullet.”

“You’re trapped by your past. I’m afraid of my future.”
“Afraid?”
“Terrified.”
She suddenly found herself in his arms, his lips on her forehead. “Don’t be afraid, baby. I’ve got you.”

And then there are the rest of the band. HOT DAMN!! What a filthy, dirty, smutty bunch of boys. But God, I love them all! They are freaking hilarious, uber sexy and, as always, there is epic, epic bantering.

“Border patrol,” a uniformed officer announced as he stepped on the bus. “Anything to declare?”
“I declare that this sucks,” Trey said, shuffling past him.
“Hey,” Eric said to the office and pointed at Trey. “I saw that guy shove something up his ass.”

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Jace growled at Eric over her shoulder.
“Sharing?” Eric tried.

“She is totally getting off,” Eric said. “Just go with it.”
“Your balls are touching mine,” Jace said between clenched teeth.
“What’s a little sac connection between friends?”

“I’m your best buddy, and you don’t want me to die from a giant case of blue balls?”
“I don’t think that’s fatal,” Aggie said.
“Have you ever had blue balls?” Eric asked.
She grinned and flipped her gaze to the ceiling. “Well…”
“They’re not just for Smurfs.”

With the majority of the storyline taking place on the tour bus, there is heaps of time spent with the whole band, and the relationships between the boys forms a big focus of the story as Jace grows in confidence, starts to open up to the guys, and firmly establishes his place in the band. And as smutty as they all are, we do get to see their softer, emotional sides come out as they show their love and support to him. “Yes, we’re his family. Get the fuck out of my way.” And a huge shout out to Eric. We get to see a lot of him in this story, and he is so funny, I just love him. We get to see a deeper side to him towards the end, and I can’t WAIT for his book coming up next.

Somewhat strangely, the beginning of this story runs parallel with book 2, Rock Hard, so we get to see a little bit of Sed and Jessica’s relationship unfolding (just as we saw a bit of Jace and Aggie together in Sed’s book). But it also moves past the time covered in book 2, and carries through some months beyond that. But it all works.

Olivia Cunning absolutely delivers on the hot, erotic, rock star romance. Add to it some gut wrenching emotion, unexpected twists and turns, a couple of heart-pounding moments and a bunch of characters that I already know and absolutely love, this book is a big win for me.

4 stars.
