“Laugh with me, Love with me … No beginning, No end”

4 stars!

This is a heartfelt, emotional read with a unique and intriguing set-up. A rockstar romance with a difference, and a beautiful read about two people – both dealing with their own issues – finding love in an unconventional way.

“You’re my heart’s hero.”

Talon Valentine, together with his brothers and cousins, is a member of rock band Ashes & Embers. Tattooed, pieced, long-haired and gorgeous, he’s well known for his manwhorey ways, but what he really wants is something real, a woman who wants him for more than what he can offer in the bedroom, and a true partner.

Asia Jenson’s life has been marked by loss as, one by one, all of those close to her have left her. She’s very much alone and wants nothing more than to have somebody to share her life with.

Talon and Asia are individually approached to participate in a social experiment where they marry a complete stranger and live together as husband and wife for six months. They must document their thoughts and feelings, and at the end of it they get $50,000 and have to make the decision to either divorce or stay together. It’s a terrifying concept, but one that intrigues them both, so they sign up.

Talon wants a confident blonde bombshell who can fit into his rocker lifestyle.
Asia wants a quiet, clean cut family man.
But what we think we want isn’t always what we need.

I loved the set up for this book. Talon and Asia are complete opposites, and when they meet, neither of them hide their disappointment, and I was honestly not liking either of them very much.

“I’m not into the long hair and tattoos. At all.”
“I definitely see implants in our future, so I guess we’re even, then.”

But they grew on me as they both remained true to their commitment and threw themselves into their marriage wholeheartedly. They are both so determined to create something from the awkwardness of their situation, and as they set up house and start figuring out a way to fit into each other’s lives, they open up and get to know each other, and I loved watching them settle in to it.

“Marrying you doesn’t change who I am.”
“No, but it changes who we are together,” I grab her hand to stop her fingers from nervously circling on her leg. “Together, we’re supposed to be better.”

It’s not an easy ride for them. Asia is committed, but she wants to take it slow, and I love that they don’t just throw themselves into sex. The chemistry takes a while to develop, and the progression of things felt natural as slowly and easily, everything begins to change for them as they start to fall.

I wait until her breathing is soft and even against me before I let myself drift off to sleep, like I’ve been doing every night for the past few weeks. Slowly, everything in my life is turning into putting her first, and I’m not going to fight it.

But right when they seem to be getting on track – as if the touring, groupies and their differences aren’t enough – life throws them a curveball. It will change everything for Talon and Asia, and they’ll need to really dig deep to see if what they have found together is what they truly want, and if so, they realise they need to fight like hell to keep it.

“We’re never gonna be perfect, baby, but we’ll always be like this.  Whatever this is between us, it’s always going to be here.  I promise you.”

I really enjoyed this book. It was very different from what I was expecting, but I loved the unique twist and I loved watching Talon and Asia come together. Their beginning is hard, but watching them change and adapt to fit each other and find their own happy place was such a great journey, and it’s really well written in a way that felt real, while still tugging at the heartstrings and keeping me fully invested. The drama is realistic and written in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the story, and I loved watching it all unfold for them.

We get to catch up with the rest of the boys in the series, which I really enjoyed, and even Asia’s sweet kitty is a great addition. But OMG, the more I read about Asher, the more hints we get, the more desperate I get for his story!!! I’m loving this series and am definitely looking forward to more.

4 stars.
