Blurb

Shy, introverted Lucy Dennings lives a quiet little life in New York City, working for a nonprofit and keeping to herself. Every afternoon, she goes home to her empty apartment and Edgar, her houseplant, and every night, she loses herself in the pages of her beloved romance novels. Her lonely heart seeks solace in tales of passionate, enduring, all-consuming love, but more and more, Lucy feels she’s not just reading for pleasure but searching for her a lost piece of herself in the pages. As if she once touched something beautiful but it’s been ripped away.

Until one day Lucy discovers a dead body in the alley behind her apartment. Even if it’s too late, her first instinct is to help.

Her second is to run.

Because the dead body isn’t so very dead, and suddenly, her little world isn’t so little but one in which dreams feel like memories, “inner demons” actually lurk in dark alleys, and a beautiful creature of darkness with amber eyes and wings like night might hold the key to what her heart has been aching for…if she doesn’t fall down the path of eternal damnation first.

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Emma Scott, comes an emotional paranormal love story of passion, sacrifice, and the soul-deep love of a lifetime…more than one.

Review

5 eternal stars!

Wow! I was mesmerized with this story. It’s a fantastic mix of fantasy and romance that makes you put aside your beliefs about life and death, and opens your mind to a new world of angels and demons. It’s an emotional ride where tears will fall, hearts will swoon, and love will rule, and I was consumed by it!

This gorgeous love story is full of heartache, healing, forgiveness, and magic. It’s about second chances and finding your way back to your love that burns eternal.

When Cas enters Lucy’s life, he changes everything. There is something that draws Lucy to Cas but when it comes to him, nothing makes sense. He is looking for redemption and she is the only one who can give it to him.

“I don’t know where to start,” I said, “but it has to be something monumental. Powerful. And there is only one thing powerful enough to redeem you in the ten days you have left.”
“And that is?”
“Love. It’s the only answer.”

Though they only just met these two have an instant attraction. She should be scared but Lucy finds herself unable to deny Cas’s request. The pull is tangible and the spark between them burns hotter than anything Lucy has ever felt. She is confused and left guessing why he chose her but one thing is for sure, they are connected in a way she doesn’t understand.

Every minute with Casziel was a battle with my own sense of reality. Like living in a lucid dream; I was sure I was going to wake up at any moment and he’d be gone.
And I’ll lose him all over again.

These two are amazing together. Their characters are well developed and their emotions were real. I felt their connection and believed in their love. I devoured this story and was fully addicted, desperately wanting the whole truth but not wanting the story to end.

Cas and Lucy have an epic love story. It’s swoony and heartwarming but also so heartbreaking at times. Both Lucy and Cas suffer in different ways and I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. It is gut-wrenching, however, the fight is worth it for these two to be together. The ups and downs, the pain and healing, all were necessary to bring them together, and I couldn’t put their story down.

This book is so different from anything this author has written and it is nothing less than spectacular. I love stories with angels and demons and this one was wonderfully crafted.  It  drew me in and didn’t let me go. Another favorite from this author who never stops impressing me!

Dreams become memories,
become now.

I can kiss you for the first time
Again and again
