SORRELL

He’s going to pay for what he’s done…

Theo Merchant was born into a kind of privilege I’ve never known.

He has everything I don’t: Money. A private school education. Popularity. A bright and shiny future, full of success to look forward to. He took the only thing I had going for me—my best friend, Rachel. Now that she’s gone, I have nothing left to lose.

I will infiltrate his world.

I will cradle his worthless heart in my hands.

I will burn down his entire life and destroy everything he holds dear.

I haven’t enrolled at Toussaint Academy to learn.

I’ve come to destroy a monster…

…and I won’t leave until he’s dead.

THEO

She has no idea what she’s getting herself into…

Sorrell Voss is intelligent, caustic as hell, and quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She’s also going to get herself f#cking killed.

She’s a fool if she thinks I’ll go easy on her just because she’s broken.

You don’t venture into the lion’s den and walk away unscathed.

She has her secrets. That’s fine.

*My* secrets will unravel her until she comes apart at the seams.

She will bow to me, and she will break.

Then, and only then, will I make her mine.

Review

“Tell me you’re in love with me…”

4.5 stars!

Holy damn, Callie Hart! What a read! Dramatic, sexy, unexpected and beautifully romantic with a stunning twist, this book kept me absolutely captivated, desperate to see what was going to happen, and I loved it!

Sorrell Voss is heading to her senior year at an exclusive high school, and she’s on a mission of vengeance. She blames privileged Theo Merchant for the death of her best friend, and she’s determined to do whatever it takes to bring him down. But on her arrival at Toussaint Academy, she is stunned by her reaction to Theo. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous, but he seems to hate her on sight. That, and it seems that he knows more about her and her reasons for being there than he should.

It’s an intriguing set up that just gets better and better as the story unfolds. I won’t give any details, because you need to go in blind and truly experience it, but it went in directions I wasn’t expecting, and though I guessed some elements of it, parts of this story just blew me away.

And while it’s happening, the sparks between Sorrell and Theo are flying! What begins as hatred quickly morphs into an attraction, and then so much more. The chemistry is intense, and the connection between them is deep and profound. It’s sweet, emotional and heartfelt and I could feel the shift between them as everything changes.

I’m overwhelmed, so brought to my knees, confused by the sheer power of this thing between us, that I can’t for one second comprehend how the hell I’m going to handle the sheer magnitude of us.

This may be a YA book, but it’s VERY mature YA, and the sexy time absolutely sizzles off the page. But more than just their obvious sexual connection is the depth of emotion between them, the way they are with each other, the way they open up to each other, and the palpable connection that binds them so completely.

This is not your usual romance. It’s not a bully romance, it’s not even an enemies-to-lovers romance. It’s something that can’t be pigeon-holed into a genre, and this love story absolutely owned my heart. It’s dramatic and emotional, but there’s also a wonderful sense of playfulness, and all of I is just gorgeous.

“Do not look at me like you’re already in love with me, Theo Merchant. My heart can’t take you looking at me like that yet … I need some time to prepare before I can handle you looking at me like that.”
I pepper her forehead, and her temples, and her cheekbones with slow, lazy, feather-light kisses. “All right. Fine. I’ll stop. But let me know when you’re ready for it, Voss. ‘Cause I’m so gonna be waiting.”

Theo Merchant. Holy wow, what a romantic hero! The way he loves Sorrell, the way he is there for her, fights for her and how utterly, blissfully lovestruck he is, absolutely stole my heart. He completely swept me off my feet, and I swooned so freaking hard over him.

“I said I’d wait until you were ready for me to love you, kid. I tried to stop myself, but I’m embarrassed by how hard I failed.”

The blend of drama, emotion, mystery, intrigue and yes, even a bit of fun, is beautifully written, all in a way that enhances the romance. All of the different elements of the story combine to create an intriguing, emotional story that drew me in deeper and deeper, with an unforgettable love story that I happily lost myself in, and I cherished every moment of Sorrell and Theo together.

“This feels like coming home,”
“You are home.
My home.”

Love this one – 4.5 stars
